Auto part warrantees are a scam on EBAY
you cannot trust the eBay money back guarantee with Auto parts. I put two front hub bearing assemblies into a car which lasted 7 months until one of them started to grind. The product came with a 5-year warranty but eBay will only cover your purchase for the first 30 days. Which means after 30 days that warranty advertised means nothing because eBay will not stand behind you. They will sell you junk that will last just a few weeks and they could advertise a lifetime warranty which you'll never get because they have no intentions on warranty in the products.

OP1 year agoNice thought but it doesn't work that way. I wish it did but the credit card disputes have a time limit also. Usually it's within 30 days of what you received your statement but I think that varies by state.

·1 year agoWarranties are with the manufacturer of the product, NOT the seller! Most products with warranty have a card or website you need to fill out. Most manufacturers ONLY warranty their products when sold by their 'dealers'.

·1 year ago30 days is for the eBay money back guarantee.....the 5 year warranty is from the manufacturer and unless you purchased this from a licensed distributor for this item there is no warranty.

·1 year agoIf you assume a warranty exists, you should also expect a copy of the warranty which arrives with the product,
If the listing claims a 5 year warranty and you receive no copy of the warranty you should file a not as described claim within 30 days of receipt.
If you were looking for a bargain, you will not have gotten one because you failed to exercise due diligence, not because Ebay did anything wrong.
Feel free to sue the seller. Your lawyer will cost you more than the parts did and even if you win, you will probably never collect.

·1 year agoThe seller need never reply to you 7 months after the purchase. Nothing in my previous post said you should contact the seller. No wonder you are in this situation.
You failed to behave in a manner which would have protected you. That should have occurred before you decided to purchase the item on Ebay, or during the Ebay MBG period.
If you opened an MBG claim within 30 days of receipt because you did not receive a copy of the warranty, you would have received a return label and a refund when you returned, or received a copy of the warranty.
You did not behave in a manner which was appropriate. There are many Ebay sellers who cannot provide the warranty and many manufacturers who will not honor the warranty on an Ebay purchase. Buying on Ebay is not like buying at a car dealership or even an auto parts store.

But if someone gets a lifetime warranty or even a 5-year warranty and you don't know when the product is going to break but you know it's before the warranty expires eBay will do nothing about it and the seller will not reply. So what good is the warranty posted on eBay? I made it very clear to Ebay and I gave them screenshots of what was going on they should have taken the seller off or at least taking the warranty information off their site.

·1 year agoWhen you received the item, was there any warranty information on or in the package?
Unless the seller is the one that manufactured the part, they have nothing to do with the warranty.
You need to contact the manufacture, which is probably in China and their warranties are about as good as their parts.
If you want a good warranty, buy at a local parts store.

Right, after 30 days, Ebay will do nothing.
A warranty is through the manufacture, not Ebay or the seller.
Contact the manufacture.

OP1 year agoThe seller that I bought the wheel bearing from said he would give me back $5. I told him to keep it what a joke.
I bought a y-pipe for a GMC terrain off a different seller it lasted 6 months in blew out was supposed to have a 5-year warranty. He never returned my email. There was no way to call him. Ebay was sent a copy of my emails with pictures.
Ebay was aware of both and I showed them the warranties on their products and they did nothing and they let the seller to keep his photos of the warranty up and they let him keep selling so I blame them too.

·1 year agoBuyers have some responsibility when it comes to buying items that claim they have a warranty.
Buyers should be aware what eBay's warranty policy says. Basically it states if a warranty is offered there has to be a link to the warranty or the full written text of the warranty in the description. This would tell you how to register the warranty. It would have the number to call when you need service. It would tell you if it's a prorated or full warranty. Warranties are almost always provided by the manufacturer and buyer diligence is calling the manufacturer before buying and ask if they cover third party purchases/eBay purchases. Most do not.

OP1 year agoWe are aware that the warranty is with the seller. The post states that after 30 days the eBay stepping guarantee expires and at 31 days you will rely on the seller's guarantee which is usually non-existent and just used as a selling plot.

You are blaming eBay and the MBG that is good for 30 days because something you have installed and used for 7 months is not working.
AND supposedly has a warranty.
Unless the seller is an authorized distributor for the manufacturer, most manufacturers will not honor warranties on eBay.
eBays MBG is not a warranty. 2 different things. You should read it. In case you get the wrong item or no item.

OP1 year agoNo one is blaming eBay for not honoring a seller's warranty. The post is showing that you cannot trust the warranties from the sellers. Are you able to swallow this response or are you still choking on it?

Took it back later that day because something was BAD wrong with it.
Simply wanted to exchange for another.
They refused, told me I needed to contact DeWalt.

OP1 year agoAnd now that I think about it actually eBay does have some responsibility in this. When eBay is told and shown that the sellers are not honoring the warranty they still leave their false advertising up on the site. They do not remove the sellers and they did not remove the images mentioning the warranty.

OP1 year agoI'll say this slow so you understand perhaps this time. The warranty that the seller post could be any arbitrary amount of time he wants to say. For the sake of argument will say the post has a lifetime warranty. The seller does not need to honor that warranty because they simply will not reply to your warranty claim. And will you tell eBay the scam that's going on that the seller is posting a lifetime warranty and will not even honor it after a few months eBay does nothing about it. They still leave the post up they still leave the warranty time up. They're part of the letters and emails that go to the customer and they can see everything's ignored. Because of this not only is the seller to blame but eBay is to for allowing this to happen.

OP1 year agoEven my kindergartener knows the answer to what you just posted. So I'll say this slow so you understand. A seller could post any time limit for a warranty they want and not otter any of it at all. The color could say it's good for a lifetime and your kids lifetimes but if you try to collect let's say in a month they don't even have to answer you they'll just ignore you. Will you make it clear to ebay that they are posting a false warranty up on the site eBay does nothing about it they do not make them change the warranty and they do not make them take down the site. So not only is the seller a scam but eBay allowing this to happen is also a scam.
