Why no “Notes to Self” on Mobile Apps
I do a lot of research on items before placing a bid on them. Another user pointed out to me the Notes to Self functionality within my Watchlist, but that’s only available on the full EBay website. Why not offer that functionality within the mobile apps? How can users provide EBay with recommendations like that?

·2 days agoThere are three basic ways to deliver a desktop web page to a tiny phone screen.
One is to provide everything exactly as it appears on the web, only much, much smaller. This works for some things, but can make it very hard to select a tiny text link with a finger on a very dense page with many links, for instance.
The second is to provide everything as the web, but only display a portion of the screen at any time, requiring the user to scroll or zoom to see everything. This allows links to be selected by touch, but typically requires frequent additional scrolling or finger-spreading to zoom in or out.
The third way is to provide a simplified, stripped-down version of the page that lacks some of the features of the desktop, but that allows most of the important features to be used in a way that is optimized for a small screen, replacing text links with larger buttons that can be more easily manipulated by a finger, and dropping some less important features entirely.
The eBay app provides the third option. The other two options can be obtained by using a mobile browser in desktop mode. Most browsers allow a user to request the desktop site version of a page using the three-dot menu in a specific browser tab.
Using a mobile browser in the default mobile mode splits the difference between the stripped-down app and the full-service desktop browser: more features than the app, but not quite as many as the desktop.
Many eBay pages have a "Tell us what you think" link to provide feedback to page designers regarding issues with features or to make suggestions. For the eBay app, if you have the "shake to report" feature enabled, that can be used to make similar suggestions or to report issues. Although eBay allows suggestions to be offered, official policy is to not solicit suggestions or to respond to any suggestions that are made. This is done for legal liability reasons, primarily.
