Turn off ebay live COMPLETELY
Summary: Participants expressed widespread dissatisfaction with the eBay Live feature, calling it intrusive and annoying. Many complained about auto-playing videos and excessive notifications, wishing for an option to turn off the feature completely. Some suggested using ad blockers or alternative methods to minimize the impact, but these solutions were not universally successful. There is a shared sentiment that eBay is not considering the preferences of its long-term users, leading several participants to threaten or take action to stop using the platform.
Not just notifications but ALL of the videos completely. Driving me nuts just trying to find something

·4 days agoI wanted the notifications blocked on mobile. I have don't get them on my desktop at all. Tried advice given here and online, nothing was working. I looked at my saved sellers of which I only had 11, but that had turned into over 70 sellers saved. I unfollowed all the 70 they added. It took a day or two. NO MORE NOTIFICATIONS!! Well over 2 wks ago, fingers crossed it stays that way.

·5 days ago · EditedeBay at its best is magical. eBay Live is just sad and predatory. It represents nothing that has made eBay wonderful over the past 25 years. eBay Live is just a platform for predatory people to "engage" with people desperate for human interaction. It's shouldn't exist, but at least give regular users a way to turn a blind eye to this awful platform.

Did you try the aforementioned "Block eBay Live Feed" Chrome extension?
I added to my extensions today and no longer see any of that terriible "Live" stuff..............................................

·6 days agoSince yesterday I've been using the Google Extension - Block eBay Live Feed - no live streams. It works a treat.
The extension removes these parts of eBay:
• the "eBay Live" menu entry
• live event banners on the homepage
• eBay Live carousels, also inside search results
Links to eBay Live pages open the eBay homepage instead.
I should mention, I only use a laptop.

·6 days agoI am about to just quit ebay after 17 years. Constantly having videos of people selling overpriced cards and garbage shoved in my face is making me beyond frustrated. They should have done this as a separate site or something. Pretty on par the way ebay has been the last few years though. They shove a foot in their mouth and start chewing.

And I repeat.....
THEY AREN'T GOING TO TURN IT OFF.
There's a whole generation that have grown up with a screen in their face and their phone is like an extension of their body and mind. No doubt to them static listings are boring, lifeless.
They are the future buyers and eBay is going to market to them no matter if we like it or not. It would be nice if we could customize our interface to not include the "Live" ads but it seems eBay has a "one size fits all" approach to this issue.
Better get used to it.......Resistance is futile..........................

·1 week ago · EditedI despise that I can't escape eBay Live. I don't want it, I won't use it, I hate constantly accidentally clicking it when it pops up large on my eBay home page. I hate that whenever eBay's home page is on my computer the computer fan kicks on because eBay live is drawing so much juice. Let us customize our screens and enjoy our own eBay experience please. - Harry

·1 week agoI am getting so sick and tired of Ebay Live notifications and ads. It's getting almost impossible to navigate the site anymore. I need push notifications on so I know when something sells, but even turning almost everything off, things will be fine for a day or two, then sure enough, ebay lice starts to weasel its way back into everything.

·1 week agoThe iPad app is just broken now like it’s been taken over by malware.
I’ve had better luck with the website, because there the Live onslaught is a lot less.
I also tried to see if some of the video and other malware-like behaviors of eBay Live could be blocked by configuring some subdomains to be blocked in the browser. But eBay puts them on the same domains, so everything would be blocked.
One of the better options is to use custom, path-level rules in AdGuard or 1Blocker:
ebay.com/ebaylive

·2 weeks agoebay has worked over the years to eliminate fraud in it's system. By dropping ebay live on us, they've increased fraudulent selling by 1000%! Even my son was taken by one of the card sellers that's predominately featured on the home page. He bought a sealed Pokémon box for $40, and was charged $400. The package was delivered quickly, but it wasn't even the correct box, and was obviously resealed by Saranwrap. He's still trying to resolve the issue, but no luck so far after 3 months now. By the way, the cards were used and condition made them worthless. Ebay created a hornet's nest, all for a the almighty dollar.

·3 weeks agoAgreed, we need a way to turn this crap off. It's a bunch of idiots thinking this is tiktok or IG. EBAY GIVE US AN OPTION TO TURN THIS GARBAGE OFF. We didn't ask for it and i'm pretty sure the amount of people actually tuning in is abysmal. They are probably paying someone in China to run views on their 100000 devices they have running simultaneously.
The alternative would be to let us go straight to the selling tab when we open the app, bypassing this garbage.

·3 weeks ago · EditedSeriously, as much as I buy and sell, I have never and will never tune into an Ebay Live. We are already punished via fees and competetive prices, now you want me to sit through a live on the off chance I buy ONE thing? Thats insane. Not to mention its very possible I will have to bid war someone for it. People sell multiple things on ebay to try and bundle discount, but in my experience basically everyone comes to Ebay already knowing what they want. My bundle items sell far less than single items. People want what they want. Ebay hardly functions at all on impulse buys. If anything Ebay runs on the SELLERS being more hasty out of desparation instead of the buyers.
Honestly it will only be a few more times of me loading up Ebay and getting 7 Live feeds shoved in my face that I just cancel all my listings and uninstall for good.

·1 month agoI was shopping in a store and heard loud talking. Both my husband and I thought it was a radio somewhere. Actually it was eBay live and I somehow I purchased something and didn't know what it was or how it happened. I immediately contacted the sellers to cancel the purchase, they were unwilling to cancel the purchase. I talked to eBay and they said to instruct the sellers not to send the item. The item was sent anyway. Now I am going through my bank hoping for some recourse. I have been a member of eBay since the early 90's. This is my first dispute and they wouldn't help me. ·1 month agoI found this thread while trying to find a way to stop the Live videos from playing automatically in my eBay app feeds because this is a big accessibility no-no. I had a stroke and now have to turn off autoplaying video in web browsers because it causes nausea similar to motion sickness. Aside from that I agree with other posters that the random "no news" irrelevant-to-me notifications are extremely irritating. I have enough admin to deal with every day, without having to process all this garbage. It seems the designers are not putting our needs first. I'm mainly a buyer, occasionally a seller. The vids are appearing in searches as well as the homepage, which as someone else pointed out is the default view on the app. Please give us the option to turn the autoplaying off, at least.
