Recent android update ruined the keyboard
They new.keyboard is super annoying. I've been using the app almost exclusively for about 3 years, but they new keyboard sucks so much, I deleted the app and will just use the website.
Every time you type a number, it switches back to letters after one number is pressed and when you move the cursor back to correct something it moves the cursor to the end of the paragraph or phrase after 1 character change.
Very aggravating, I kinda resent eBay for this. Years of goodwill destroyed with one crappy update

·7 months agoLooks like the problem is solved. Update the app from Ebay and now it works. (as of today, who knows what will happen tomorrow.)

·7 months agoI'm having the same problem as everyone else. I don't understand why eBay hasn't fixed this. We pay a lot of money selling on the site and they don't even reply to the thread to let us know if they are working on it. We should be getting a discount on fees until it's fixed.😡

·7 months agoWhat's the most important function of the app? I'd argue that the search function is and yet this functionality has been broken for weeks. Couldn't you just have reverted to the previous version?

·8 months agoI had the same problem, if any one is interested I have a Band-Aid fix:
1. delete the app 2. Search for eBay version 6.238.1.1 APK and download from a source you trust. 3. Install this version. 4. Keyboard is working.
Do at your own risk and know where you are getting the app from, also you may want to turn off auto updates in Google play, until the issue is solved. If you don't play will put you back to the version that has the keyboard screw up.

·8 months agoStarted a few weeks ago. Predictive text won't work, last search replaces new search, try to add word & it scrambles all text. It's just messed all messed up.

·8 months agoI have this same issue, numbers keep resetting after reach number and I can't edit the search term after I've typed it without the cursor jumping to the revs if the search after each keystroke. Really frustrating! I've tried the online agent support but 3 separate agents just ended the help chat on me. And my shake to report feature had suddenly disappeared 🤦

Check your keyboard settings to see if there is an option to always show the number row at the top of the keyboard. That may be worth using until this app issue is addressed by eBay.

·8 months agoIssue is still not fixed. I'd use the Shake to Report feature but that doesn't work for me either. (Yes, I checked my settings to confirm it's switched on).

·8 months agoSame! It's making it practically impossible to search for anything quickly. The speak to text function is also not working as it relates to the search box.

·8 months agoSame annoying issue here. Hope it gets a fix. I couldn't figure out why it was happening until I came here and saw others reporting the same thing.

·8 months agoI have tried all the "solutions" mentioned, but no success. I've tried 4 different keyboards, no success. I've tried a bluetooth keyboard, no success. The voice to text is way too screwy as well. It seems EBay always has problems over the years of a similar nature.
Does EBay actually solve the problems or do users just give up?

·8 months agoYes, crazy annoying.
Also having a issue were if you try to edit/add text to within your search once you delete or add a letter the cursor will jump to the end so you end up having to more the cursor back or delete everything and start again.
Which leads to another issue which is when you hold the delete/backspace instead of deleting everything in only deletes one letter and you have to mash it repeatedly to delete a section of text.

·8 months agoSame thing is happening to me. It's very annoying, and I don't search as much anymore. You'd think ebay would want to make it easier to search for things to buy, not harder.

·8 months agoThis is adding 20-40 minutes to look up items daily with all the delays. There is no more ability to type in multiple numbers or edit prior searches, it is ridiculous and an overall reduction in efficiency, I've started typing things into Google and then copy/paste the words over to eBay, completely idiotic.

·8 months agoYes! Mine is doing the same exact thing!! I thought it was weird that I only had issues when using the ebay app, so I googled it and found this. I sure hope they fix it because it is super annoying!!

·8 months agoYes, it's completely aggravating. Just deleted and reinstalled the app, hope it helps but have a suspicion it won't until eBay does something. I won't be buying anything at all until it's fixed.

·8 months agoI have noticed similar behavior with the eBay app lately.
Issues with the app can be reported to eBay by shaking your device while the app is active if that feature is enabled.
Playing around with the eBay app keyboard settings preferences, there are some worth exploring, including a permanent number row at the top, and "touch & hold keys for symbols" that can make the current issue less of a problem.

I have to assume this is a bug that somehow made it mast QA, makes the app incredibly annoying to use.

·8 months agoYES! I thought my phone was messed upmfrom being dropped but it's been doing it on two different phones. They need to fix this, it's extremely frustrating.
