My eBay app refused to notify me when my items were sold.
Summary: xenomarket expressed frustration with eBay notifications not working on their app. 12345jamesstamps shared their approach of handling eBay emails, emphasizing safety by not opening potentially fraudulent emails and managing everything directly through the website. ovarianbarbarian echoed concerns about not receiving notifications or emails about sales but getting payout notifications, seeking insights from others.
I had set my ebay to notify me when there is a sale. Nope it did nothing. I discovered someone ordered something and then refunded it because I received no notification. I don't go to the eBay site itself often since no one bought from me in a long time. I just decided to look at it today and discovered it. I am very angry about this. I am busy and don't have time to check a website where sales are VERY few and FAR in between. Notify my **bleep** phone!

路9 months agoHow exciting to buy something from a seller that does not check their account, on the entity site and instead, relies on some stupid phone system.聽

路9 months agoSince you haven't used the app in a while, it芒鈧劉s likely that either a software update "broke" the link or your phone's power-saving settings have put the app to sleep.

Here is how to force your phone to start notifying you again:
1. Run the "Diagnose Notifications" Tool
The eBay app has a built-in tool specifically for this.
Open the eBay app and go to My eBay > Settings > Notifications.
Scroll to the very bottom and tap Diagnose Notifications.
Follow the prompts to verify your device can actually receive signals from eBay's servers.
2. Reset the Connection (The "Off and On" Trick)
Sometimes the app thinks notifications are on, but the system connection is dead.
In the App: Go to Settings > Notifications, uncheck every single box, then close the app entirely.
In Phone Settings: Go to your phone's main Settings > Apps > eBay > Notifications and toggle "Allow Notifications" OFF and then back ON.
Re-open the eBay app and re-check the boxes you want.
3. Check Battery Optimization (Crucial for Low-Volume Sellers)
If you don't open the app often, your phone may "optimize" it by cutting off its background data to save battery.
Android: Go to Settings > Apps > eBay > Battery. Ensure it is set to "Unrestricted" so it can notify you even if you haven't opened it in months.
iPhone: Go to Settings > eBay and ensure Background App Refresh is toggled ON.
4. The Last Resort: Clean Reinstall
If the above fails, your app cache is likely corrupted.
Uninstall the eBay app completely.
Restart your phone (this is vital to clear the system cache).
Reinstall the latest version from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

You are running a business on an ecommerce platform. You need to check your account. When I sell something, I get notified via the Ebay app AND get an Email notification. BUT I also check my Ebay account at least once a day.

You might want to check your notification settings on your phone. OR just remove your listings, since you don't seem to have time. I mean you only have 3 listings up right now (I see you did sell something today, though)

路9 months agoI check my emails from everyone from work, friends and such in my inbox of emails on my iPhone or computer.
I get a payment made from eBay of an item sold in my emails from everyone.
I rarely check website.
Do you not get emails from family and friends on your phone?

路9 months agoI never never never open any "emails" that come from ebay. We, as both Sellers and Buyers, probably average 10-15 emails a day from ebay. How do we know each and every email is legit? I go through all emails from ebay, select all, delete. Then I go to deleted. Select all, DELETE. I do this a couple of times a day.聽
If it has to do with ebay, I deal with it on the website, within my account on ebay, ON THE WEBSITE. It's Safer that way.聽

If you don芒鈧劉t have the gumption to look a couple times a day at the account you set up for selling, then eBay probably isn芒鈧劉t going to be a good fit.聽
That芒鈧劉s okay, it芒鈧劉s not a failure. Online selling isn芒鈧劉t for everyone.聽

路9 months agoAs a seller you are responsible for checking your account for any sales frequently.聽
Relying on notifications is not a great idea since notifications can be unreliable as you have found out the hard way.
If you芒鈧劉re too busy to check for sales then perhaps online sales isn芒鈧劉t for you.聽
