Image Search Not Working
Last night and again today, whenever I do an image search in the iOS eBay app, I get results that have nothing to do with the image I used. Last night I kept getting photos of flowers and flowering plants. Today I just get a hodge podge of unrelated items.
I just up graded the app and now the search results are the same hodge podge again and again regardless of what image I use.

·2 years agoSame. It’s been taking me hours of extra time using Google lens which is perfect at finding what I need using the camera but to go back to EBAY and manually type everything in has been extremely time consuming.
On top of that, I also can not use the “sold†feature on my EBAY app and I am about to set up a store!
At first it was saying I exceeded my daily limit of searching using the sold feature When I only used it a few times, it was early in the morning, I still had eight hours to go!!!! Now I can’t use it at all from any of my emails or just my phone when I log out.
I’ve called eBay every day, I message them. I keep talking to people that don’t know what the “sold†feature is. I have to keep explaining it which is taking up even more time. Supposedly am IT ticket was created with no activity or response. It has halted every single thing I’m doing and financially affecting me. This is so disappointing.

·2 years agoMy camera is showing me the most random pictures. I thought I didn’t have enough light at first… lol but the results made zero sense.
Not being able to see what has SOLD….. no camera….seems Hopeless.

·2 years agoSame thing is happening to me and others. Not sure what to do or who to contact either, just getting the same thing, uninstall reinstall, check this and that but nothing fixes the issue! You can take a photo of a hair brush and get lawn mowers and minions as the results. The photo search plays a huge roll in listing items for sale, I hope they address this soon!

·2 years agoIn the past there have been similar issues with image search returning apparently unrelated or only loosely related items.
If you want to report this to eBay, try shaking your phone while using the app to trigger a submission form.
Try image search again later. Possibly after the next update it will work better again.

·2 years agoYou may have to temporarily disable "Lockable filters" in the Filter Customize menu to get good image search results.
Apparently, even though image search appears to be defaulting to "Best Match", if you have lockable filters enabled, your image searches will not actually show you "Best Match" results.
If I have Lockable filters enabled and perform an image search, the results shown are nonsense, but the instant I disable lockable filters the results re-sort to provide reasonable looking results.

·2 years agoI’ve had “best match†selected and never had the lockable feature enabled and I still can’t use the camera. It will show completely unrelated results. I can’t even use the “sold†feature either so it makes being mobile completely pointless if I’m using the eBay app as a platform to sell. I am about to open up a store, so I have huge concerns.
Nobody can help me In customer service.

I seem to be getting reasonable looking image search results using the latest Android version of the eBay app (6.178.0.1). What version number of the app are you using, and which operating system version number?
If the app is not working for you, try using a browser instead, and use Google Lens to identify images.

·2 years agoYup, I searched a glass punch bowl base and got listing for seeds to grow vegetables

·2 years agoTry changing your sort order to "Best Match".
I saw some very odd results when sorting by "Newly Listed". Changing the sort order put the most relevant results at the top of the sort.

·2 years agoThe mobile apps seem to lose some more functionality every day.
Perhaps they are being affected by operating system updates.
Among the complaints in the Anti-Trust action filed recently are IOS changes which hinder competition.
I have no idea if that is accurate. I never have owned and Apple product and never will.

·2 years agoSame issues, it was working yesterday. Search has nothing to do with the real item. My daughter’s phone seems to be fine.
