·5 days agoI understand this is for mobile app - how do I turn off live on my laptop [ MacBook Pro] While we're on that topic, how can I turn off the quiz of asking me if I want to sell anything I have purchased on ebay. Is it not common sense to ebay that user who sells on ebay would know if they wanted to sell something? I don't need ebay to constantly be reminding me what I have bought.

·5 days ago@lifestylecars2020 The best way to handle the Live auctions and the do you want to sell is to bookmark another page and use it for your searches. That is what I do, I never look at the home page as it's WAAAY too busy for me. You can bookmark your purchase history page> https://www.ebay.com/mye/myebay/purchase

·2 weeks agoAvoid the main "home" screen in the app to avoid eBay Live.
Tap and hold the app icon and choose to go to your Watch List or to go to the Search page, and stay off the main screen where eBay Live is shown. From your Watch List you can go to any other screen.

·2 months agoIs there a way to completely eliminate eBay live from even showing up on my eBay app? I made the mistake of purchasing something on an eBay live about six months ago and now I am bombarded with this nonsense. Not so much notifications, but just on my main screen, it’s all I see.

·3 months agoThose screenshots are for notifications only. What about the UI? The whole mobile interface is littered with eBay Live junk, but there doesn't seem to be a way to remove it or turn it offl.

This thread is specifically about disabling eBay Live notifications in the app. Start your own thread or see some of the other existing threads if you want to discuss other aspects of eBay Live aside from notifications.

·5 months agoHa. There is no ‘notifications’ setting. You cannot turn off eBay live. Every piece of advice you’ll read online about getting rid of it is useless. Every bit of ‘advice’ you’ll read online get from customer service is useless. eBay has obviously decided it’s worth enraging their customers to keep it going.

OP5 months agoIt was renamed from 'notifications' to 'push notifications' but I can't go back and edit the post. The screenshot shows the correct path:
My eBay > Settings > Push Notifications > eBay Live
wastingtime101
OP6 months agoI didn't think an update was needed since the process changed not long after this post, and questions stopped rolling in, but since ecommercebytes recently posted an article discussing this out of date post, I am adding an update showing the current settings to turn on/off eBay Live notifications.
It's no longer necessary to adjust the General Promotions notification and this hasn't been a pain point for about 5 months. Everything is under eBay Live and eBay broke up the settings to give users more granularity. Users can choose which aspects of eBay Live they do / do not want notifications.
My eBay > Settings > Notifications > eBay Live
Screens are from iOS. Android is similar. Thank you for listening to app users' feedback on this, eBay.

·5 months agoThis still did nothing, it’s wild eBay can’t simply fix this nonsense
wastingtime101
OP5 months agoThe current notification settings should be working. Do a clean install of the app @rcgrady to make sure there isn't old info causing bugginess.
Step 1: Delete app
Step 2: Reboot your phone/tablet
Step 3: Do a clean install of the app

·9 months agoThere is nothing when I click on Notifications, I cannot find anything anywhere that is called "Shopping Updates"? I'm using a laptop, NOT a phone. Can you please give laptop instructions for how to remove the Live Auction feature? Thanks.
wastingtime101
OP9 months agoHi @seashellstyles . Since you're asking about desktop, can you start a brand new thread on the tech issues board about this? I don't want to make this discussion about app notifications too confusing going off topic.
Make sure you include details like which eBay page you're on (post the link) and describe exactly what's happening and if possible post a screenshot of the issue.
Also include info about whether you are replicating the problem on another browser or if it's specific to one browser (in which case you should try clearing cache/cookies for that browser).

·9 months agoI will, but it's not notifications I want to turn off, I want Live Auctions removed from my page when I login. I reposted on Tech Help, but don't expect any. Think were stuck with this awful stuff 😞

OP1 year agoShake to report.
This is why I started this thread - people keep posting this problem and it's scattered all over. I'm hoping to draw these notification problems to eBay's attention.
Here are a couple other recent examples I came across last night of users unable to edit their settings:
@thenovelrefuge https://community.ebay.com/t5/Ask-a-Mentor/How-to-turn-off-notifications-on-android-phone/m-p/35190419

I only looked at the past month for tagging other members, but these user reports go back several months.

·1 year agoThanks for the screenshots but my eBay app (version 6.219.0.2 on Android) doesn't even have the last two settings under "Notifications -> Shopping updates" (i e. Cart updates, eBay Live). Furthermore, all settings on my Notifications page are disabled. I have no idea why.
I contacted eBay support weeks ago, but have yet to get ANY reply. The annoying eBay Live notifications keep occurring.

·9 months agoi cannot get ebay live streaming off of my page. I am getting mad. Ebay wants to make more money by have ebay live on and running all day, while the sellers that have been on for years cannot shut it off. They are doing it on purpose. i think they are going to go with ebay live and cut out the other sellers. It's time to find another auction site and leave ebay. They are hurting us, with cheap items.
wastingtime101
OP9 months agoHave you tried some basic troubleshooting @uniquetreasures202 , like deleting the app, then rebooting your phone, then doing a clean install of the app?
I haven't (yet) seen anybody else report an inability to turn off the live stream so it may be an issue on your phone that can be cleared with a clean install.

·1 year ago“For iOS usersâ€, Toggling off eBay Live under Shopping Updates in Notifications by itself doesn’t stop the Live Auction/Breakers Notifications whatsoever; but by toggling off General Promtotions under Recommendations & Rewards as well ~ seems to resolve the issue. Hope that helps other iOS users who may be experiencing the Live Auction spamming issue. Best Regards…
wastingtime101
OP1 year agoI appreciate that added info. Users should still shake their phone to report. Turning off eBay Live notifications should take care of it because it's a separate setting.
In my opinion it's wrong for eBay Live to be included with General Promotions when the user already indicated they specifically do not want to receive eBay Live notifications.
We shouldn't have to turn off all General Promos just to get rid of eBay Live. I'm sure eBay intentionally programmed it this way, but I see it as a tech error and think users should report it that way.

·1 year agoI hate to tell you this, but that doesn't work. That was the first thing I did, & I still get the Ebay Live push notifications.
In fact, in my original post, I specifically said that I had turned off the push notifications, but was still getting them. So I don't know why you bothered to tag me to tell me how to do something I've already done. However, if you ever figure out why I'm still getting the notifications when I have them turned off, do let me know. So far, Tech Support has been less than useless.
wastingtime101
OP1 year agoIf your notifications screen is missing settings or if all the settings are locked and grayed out, delete the app, reboot your phone, and do a fresh install of the app. If that doesn't work, keep reading.
If you have the setting turned off but are still receiving notifications, file a tech report - it's fast and easy and eBay does review these reports. The more people reporting, the higher priority the issue will get in the fix queue.
Options through the app:
1. Shake your device while the app is open and that will trigger the option for you to file a tech report or submit feedback on product features.
2. Anywhere you see the three dots or the ? you can tap on that to file a report.
@bilgerat984 @jeremy9768 @kyzyl12
I've seen several reports of things not working the way they should so I tagged everybody to get a centralized thread going and see how many people still run into the problem after turning off the setting and hopefully getting everyone to file a tech report if it's not working. Shaking your phone to report is the best way to get this in front of eBay and show them the impact.
kyzyl12
·1 year agoI uninstalled then reinstalled the app twice, and still do not have all of the menu items shown in the above screenshots. FYI, I'm running the latest Google Pixel.
Furthermore, my phone performs Auto updates frequently, and the eBay app is set to auto update, but who knows what that does.
Finally, shake the phone? Yeah, right. Also, there is no ability to connect directly to anyone at eBay to get help. When you go through the help menus you get to a point that says 'Chat with our automated system' or 'Help yourself'. As far as I can tell, there is no way to get to a human, which says a lot about eBay and just how much they value their customers.
Uninstalling eBay totally will solve a great many problems, and prevent me from buying crap that I don't need anyway. That seems like the best solution of all.
wastingtime101
OP1 year agoMy screenshot is from iOS - maybe someone else can share a screenshot of Android settings - they may differ.
I don't know what this means:
eBay actively monitors the reports that come in from the shake function and I've seen countless tech errors fixed that way.
You do have the option of turning off notifications. That's another way to get eBay to realize they are sending too many.
tintedvintage
·11 months agoSent in a technical report using the shake method thanks to your comment. Hopefully something comes of it. I've had my entire notification settings greyed out for a while now (on Android). Disabling all eBay push notifications in my phone settings and then re-enabling didn't solve it.
Fingers crossed this works because I am very close to uninstalling/removing push notifications altogether. They send far too many live event notifications, especially considering they are turned on by default without my opting in. Poor marketing on their part.

·11 months agoThis worked, thanks.
Simple uninstall and reinstall came back with the latest options to turn off all notifications or check specific ones.
