eBay App for iPhone no longer allows you to search completed/sold?

I updated the eBay app on my iPhone and everything went fine until I tried to use it to check out completed and sold items so I could determine realistic values prior to buying books. This is my main use of the app - I use it for book scouting. I was surprised to discover that the latest version of the app no longer has the option to filter by completed or sold. I don't like to use Terapeak to do that because they have a very non-specific type of search engine for their sold items so tons of unrelated books show up even when I use the exact title. Why did they remove the ability to search completed and sold from the eBay app? Is there any way I can revert to the previous version of the app? Would eBay reconsider and add it back in?

·3 weeks agoIf you make sure you’re signed in on the app it should work. I was having the same problem and realized it had signed me out. I’m not sure why it matters but I guess it’s a feature they don’t allow people that don’t have accounts to access.

OP2 months agoThank you for responding. I do find other book price search websites helpful for some of my books, but they generally focus on active listings, not sold, so I am not sure if the items would sell at the prices shown. Since I only sell on eBay, sometimes the sold results show me what I can realistically expect to get on eBay before I buy a book. I just don't understand why eBay would remove functions during an update - there must be some reason for them to do this, but I think it hurts both sellers and buyers.

eBay has not removed the ability to search sold or ended listings, though there are a number of reasons why you might not be seeing it.
Try uninstalling the eBay app, restarting your device, then installing the latest version again. Then try searching active items, go to the filter menu, scroll down to the "show more" option and select that if it appears and see if you can search sold or ended items once more.

·2 months agoEbay sales data is often inconsistent and unreliable. Ignorant sellers, sellers who are not ignorant but are buying on Ebay for resale, and sellers who have no clue how long it should take for a long tail book to sell all contribute to the unreliability of the data.
The number of active listings offering the book and the prices associated with them are usually more useful, but the effects of promoted listings decrease the value of this data as well.
There are items on Ebay which sell for more than other offer prices because they are being sold by more skilled sellers. and a book sold by a specialist seller may have better descriptions and photos, and be viewed by a buyer who is viewing the seller's store rather than using the search.
IMO using Via Libri or another book comparison site may be a better use of your time.
