As a buyer, the eBay Android app is complete garbage
I prefer to use the eBay app if possible when out shopping, over just opening the eBay website in the phone's browser, as I like to use the phone's camera to take pictures of UPC codes and the app searches automatically. It's very streamlined.
However I can't actually do this, because the stupid app does not keep search sorting and filtering results. It reverts to Best Match and default location options after EVERY SINGLE SEARCH.
I realize that eBay wants to bludgeon buyers with its ridiculous Best Match algorithm, but for Pete's sake, at least allow users to change the darned thing and allow the BUYER'S PREFERENCES TO STICK!
There are days I absolutely loathe this company.

The app has a feature called "lockable filters", which, if enabled, allows the user to lock certain filter settings such as sort order and item location.
Enable lockable filters in the Filter customization menu. Then you should see a padlock icon appear when you change a filter setting. Tap the padlock; it should turn blue and the hasp should close to indicate it is locked. That setting will be maintained in future searches until you unlock it or change the setting yourself.

But it boggles the mind why they would force the user into those extra steps of manually locking sort and filter options one by one rather than just making sort/filter options stick until the next time you change them. Seems like they've implemented a solution in search of a problem.
Then again, eBay has a proven track record of overcomplication and overengineering every thing they've ever created.

I agree that the locking filter options are entirely non-intuitive and extremely well-hidden, but if eBay had suddenly made the filter options sticky by default, I can certainly imagine that that would cause problems for many folks who previously had no reason to expect that behavior, given that the folks seeking lockable filters are probably a small minority of users.
I think a hidden option is preferable to a sudden, unexpected change in default behavior.
