App Login Issue: Something Went Wrong: 429
Can anyone help me with this “Something went wrong: 429†issue on iOS?
Scenario: I have been using Ebay app on my iPhone a lot. Yesterday, I suddenly couldn’t login or load any content, and this Error shown up (please see the screenshot attached).
 
Here are what I tried to solve this issues:
- Updated my iOS to the latest (iOS 16.6);
- Deleted the Ebay app from my iPhone (including the data);
- Reset my password for login.
So none of them works.
Now I can only use Ebay through the browser. Frustrated…

·2 years agoHas anyone figured out a fix for this? Just started having the issue as 6/6/2024. Called ebay and was told it’s a technical issue on their end?
I cannot login in to the app on my iphone but have been able to on my wife’s iphones and my sons ipad.

If you are able to sign in using the app on another device then make sure you have the latest version of the eBay app on your device.

·2 years agoI’ve deleted the app, reinstalled it (a few times). I’ve offloaded it. Restarted my phone.
Nothing.

·2 years agoI just tried to use my GMAIL to sign in and it says “you have exceeded the daily limit so access for this individual function will be denied for the rest of the day. Please try later.â€
This started at 10 PM yesterday so should I be waiting to login for 24 hours from my last login attempt now?

If you are able to sign in to the app on another device, that would indicate the problem is not a limit of your account but a problem with the version of the app on your own device.
I do not know the number of app sign-ins you are allowed in 24 hours or whether the limit is per day or just the last 24 hours. Presumably when you have waited long enough so that you are no longer at the maximum number of sign-ins for that period, you should be able to sign in again.
In the mean time, use a browser to sign in to eBay rather than the app.
If the problem is the number of sign-ins to the app, you can avoid running into this limit by not signing out of the app.

Use a browser instead of the app, or in addition to the app if you are using more than one account.

·2 years agoSame issue still going on in 2024, I changed my username on a desktop browser and I was logged out of my mobile app. I have tried everything in this thread multiple times and cannot get back into my account. Extremely frustrating as it is much easier for me to finish listings on my phone, if anyone has found a solution please let me know.

·2 years agoWhat version number of the app are you using?
Have you tried uninstalling the eBay app, restarting your phone, and then installing the latest version of the eBay app? The restart in between should ensure a clean install. If the problem was with a previous installation not finishing cleanly and preventing updates, that may help.

·2 years agoHi did you all happen to update your phones before this issue started? Just curious because my IPhone had an update yesterday and now I get the 429 error when trying to log in, also tried all the above. 😞

I can not log in on the app and am getting the 429 error. I have deleted and reinstalled the app. There is no option for Ebay under the tracking settings.... super frustrating!

OP3 years agoOh well, it’s funny that right after I posted this, I figured it out-I just need to ALLOW the ebay app to track on the iPhone settings. The app works fine now.
Sigh…tbh, I don’t really like the app tracking thing tho, but that’s another story.

OP2 years agoThat’s on your iPhone “Settingsâ€.
Here are the steps to enable the tracking on your iPhone:
1. go to “Settings†on your iPhone.
2. Then go to “Privacy & Securityâ€.
3. Then go to “Trackingâ€.
4. Then scroll down to find the eBay app, and click on enable it.
After I enabled the Tracking and connected my email with my eBay account, I was able to log in successful and access to everything like before.

·2 years agoI’ve been getting this since yesterday, I was already on allowed tracking, and today I got a “Allow app to track†pop up so I clicked yes, tried signing in but still got the 429, deleted and reinstalled the app, tried again and still 429. Anyone else have any other suggestions please?

·2 years agoHi - I’m in the UK and have been having the exact same problem for 3 days now - have tried the suggestions above but can still not access my account via my iPhone app. Rang them and they suggested deleting and reloading the app which I’ve done and it still doesn’t work. Hugely frustrating and I’m clearly not alone with this problem 😞
