Vintage sterling silver Meenakari enamel elephant Moghul bracelet
Picked up this interesting bracelet over the weekend in a lot of jewelry. The seller told me what it was and how it opens. I thought it was cool enough to share here.
Here's the bracelet all intact. Do you see the piece on the left that's sticking out a bit? That unscrews but the bracelet doesn't open yet:
After removing the screw, there is a piece that looks like a key. That swivels to allow the side with the flat box-like piece to swing out:
Here is the bracelet completely apart. I tested the metal and it's at least .925 sterling if not higher:
Some people confuse these with Chinese export, but they're definitely Indian. The enameling is beautiful.

·3 years agoI've seen something sorta-kinda similar in the past. It would be a royal pain to get it off and on by yourself. Nice piece of enameling.

OP3 years agoThanks Sarah and Sandy! When the seller first showed it to me I tried to yank it open. Then he told me to unscrew the screw and I tried to yank it open again. Ha! So yeah, I would have been in the same boat trying to figure it out if he didn't show me 🤣!
