This necklace has been bugging me
I'll be the first to say don't trust the name on the box when dealing with unsigned jewelry. That said, this necklace came in this box signed Richelieu. Richelieu did make some sterling pieces, but I couldn't find anything similar.
Since I can't list it as Richelieu, what are your thoughts on the necklace in general? The glass stones are exceptional and the necklace is very heavy. It's marked Sterling and there's an interesting screw type thumb on the jump ring. I'm sick over the fact that someone removed two of the links in an attempt to make pierced earrings. Only one post is attached. Do you think it might be American or European? I'd love to hear your opinions on it and a possible age. Thanks!

·3 years agoI’m probably way off but could it be Georgian? Lang antiques has some listed with that same kind of clasp. Just a thought

OP3 years agoThanks for the suggestion, @liwa-5159 ! You don't have to tell me twice to look around Lang Antiques. I love that site! I'll check out the Georgian jewelry.

·3 years agoHere is a curious bit of information.
I was going through my stash and I found this necklace with the same type of clasp except it is 1/20 12KGP.
The seed pearl slider reminds me of Victorian jewelry. But also Edwardian which is just prior to Art Deco.

OP3 years agoSure does look the same or similar, OCN! I think I even see the little threads on the thumb. These findings must go back to the late 1800's.

·3 years ago@dream*peddler yup tiny threads. Also had a closer look at the earrings and to me they look unaltered as if the bottom of the bottom cup never had anything removed.
@flipping_treasures I forgot about Morning Glory.

OP3 years agoI noticed the same, OCN. I can't find any evidence of solder on the 2 extra pieces.

OP3 years agoI've been there a number of times but didn't think to look there for findings this time. I did find something else on that page that helped with another piece I've been researching. Thanks for the tip, Sandy!
