·10 months agoI don`t watch much regular tv therefore the Emmys don`t draw me in.
But I just watched this In Memoriam on YT and it was very touching. Some I`d forgotten about their passing and the song that Vince & Lainey did..extremely moving (course I tear up everytime I hear that song anyway)

Next thing I knew I was in the kitchen with all the ingredients out..within 15 minutes..they were on cookie sheets to set up ! 1 sheet in the fridge (yes I`m impatient sometimes lol) & other on counter.
So very good. Ya`ll probably have already had these, but I never had them before 😀

·11 months agoBeautiful jewelry.
It's ironic, today I found out that the reason no jewelry came out this halloween is because last year someone sent a diamond and ruby Cartier watch to a store. The workers found it before it could be sold. I found a holly leaf sterling brooch in the halloween costume. Our illwills in this area normally have some costume out with the halloween.

OP11 months agoAgree with Sarah .... WOW! You have really come a long way and you are doing great, congratulations!
I hope your knee surgery happens sooner rather than later. Michelle's mother was in the same boat as you, has to lose weight before she could get her knee surgery. She is doing well and is too on her way. It's so hard to have to wait.
I got my books to the RV this week! It is so great having them. It's like having some old friend back. So after removing the back bed and transforming that room to my office and am getting things set-up. The new templates are almost done, so listing is right around the corner.
1940fc
·11 months agoThat`s great, Sandy! I imagine you`re gonna feel like you`re starting all over LOL But I`m eager to see your 'new' listings!
You`ll have to give us a sneak preview on CA !

·11 months agoAlmost finished! Have to hand sew down the binding..but I can do that later
Decided to make a Christmas gift each for preacher`s grandson & grandaughter
Grandson is 12, is Autistic and eats sleeps, & breathes trains. he doesn`t talk very much..but is incredibly fascinate with trains. So I decided to make him a train lap quilt
Grandaughter is 10 (goin on 20 lol) smile goes all over her face every time I walk into Bible study with a cat shirt of some kind. So hers is gonna be cats!
I looked for weeks for a nice train fabric..soon as I saw this one I knew it was it! The artist is actually a Train Artist! This is a vintage South Carolina train! I was going to just make a tied quilt.. figured my hands wouldn`t handle quilting (has been 30 years since I`ve done a quilt). I didn`t like the look I was getting..so I decided to try my hand at quilting..glad I did! Guess I`ve been crocheting so much..no problem with hands at all!
So..here it is. I gave grandma a sneak peek when I was halfway finished..she said he`s gonna flip! It doesn`t show in the pics..but the upper portion (in sky & the engine beams) ( used metallic bright blue & silver thread to do a lot of the quilting) Rest is just white cotton thread. I really enjoyed doing it & fell in love with the backing fabric..so colorful!

·1 year agoVery funny! Your garage looks great!
1940fc
·1 year agoThanks, bat! Got it swept out today..will wait till Monday to start putting things in..still not quite sure what..but I`m thinking hard on it cause it`s gonna be a nice walk carrying whatever LOL Better make sure the totes aren`t too heavy.
Glad I kept my resin tables..I have (4) 4ft & (1) 6ft to put things on & keep off the cement floor. If I`d have known the storage was gonna be that nice..I`d have kept 2 of my large plastic shelving units...but..the tables will be fine. Really not putting that much out there anyway. I measured it today..it is 6 x 9..so a nice size & of course really high! LOL

OP1 year agoSorry for the tardiness of this post. Things are a bit crazy here right now.
John and Michelle closed on their house. We have been moving things around here in the RV. They headed for Texas to clear out the storage shed there and with the weather there it has been delayed a bit, but should take place today, fingers crossed. In the meantime, I'm trying to reorganize the RV to the extent I can.
I am devastated by what happened in Texas and now North Carolina. I can't tell you how may times I tubed the Guadalupe River and visited Kerrville. So sad.
1940fc
·1 year agoYou`re welcome! I thought maybe ya was busy hunting! (That would be a better kind of busy than moving stuff around! LOL) I`m getting to be expert at that!
I`m with ya on the flooding..watching how that unfolded in Texas was shocking to me! To watch something like that as it happened is mindboggling. So many prayers for all affected..there just are no words. Still praying for a miracle or 2 tho!

·1 year agoIn 1974 a friend and I were driving from Yuma Arizona to Las Vegas and came upon an area with about 4 inches of water flowing across the highway. We were in an old bread delivery truck, the kind where you sit elevated like some FedEx trucks. Anyway we stupidly crossed that area and continued on our way.
The next day we heard on the news a 40 foot wall of water had wiped out Nelsons Landing on Lake Mojave. We went through that area just before it narrowed down to the marina/campground. We probably would have been washed off the road at a minimum. Probably not 40 feet at that location but enough to probably kill us or wash us down to the mercy of what was to come.
We both had spent many weekends at Nelsons Landing in the past and could have been there. We took his boat from Willow Beach boat ramp a few days later and went to see for ourselves from the lake. Totally gone, like a giant bulldozer had just shoved the marina, restaurant, campgrounds etc. into the lake. We only recognized it by some stonework up on the side of the canyon we had seen many times before.
The death toll was low (September) but ever since then I look for high ground in unfamiliar territory when I see rain clouds uphill in the distance.
I sure feel for those people impacted in these recent flashfloods................
1940fc
·1 year agoWow roccotacodad (can we call you rtc for short?)😀
Welcome to the board! That had to be a very sobering situation after the fact!!
flipping_treasures
OP1 year agoRTC, I'm so glad that you were safe and welcome to the board.
The flooding this year has been horrible! Now New Mexico, Chicago and North Carolina, and before Tennessee and Kentucky. Don't believe I have ever seen it this bad before. Flash flooding is so fast and devastating.
roccotacodad54
·1 year agoThanks for the welcome.
It has been really bad this year. I'm sort of hyper aware of flash floods due to my past experience(s) and feel bad for people that get caught unaware. Sort of like avalanches, wild fires or mud slides. Unless one has seen the aftermath in person I think alot of people don't fully realize just how devastating nature can be.
scifidaughter64
·1 year agoWelcome to the board RTC. Mother Nature can have a nasty temper and humans pay the price.
Just wanted to let everyone that has been with me on my rollercoaster ride of weight loss. As of this morning I am down 100 lbs. 5 more and the surgery will be scheduled. I am hoping it will be gone by my appointment next month.
Most of mom's stuff has been taken care of. Moved the van into my name last week.
If nothing goes wrong, I am going to Hawaii next October. For two reasons, one it will be my 5 year cancer anniversary and mom always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise. She kept saying when she got her strength back she would go. She never got to. I have decided that I am going to have the big trip because life isn't guarenteed. I am shooting for Oct 2026 so that my knee will be completely healed.
I am starting to ramble.
Sarah, how is the house feeling after you have lived there a few months?
1940fc
·1 year agoHawaii!!! You go girl!! And I mean that literally!!
So very proud of you & your weight loss journey! Only 5 more lbs to go?? Get a sharp butcher knife! (just kidding)
Gonna be awesome to get your surgery over with & start to 'live again!". Hoping you can even schedule your trip for earlier! We can live vicariously thru you then! 😀
Still doing tweaking & organizing & getting rid of the excess stuff I brought along LOL But me & JJ are doin ok. If I could get rid of the out- of- the- blue mini melt downs that wanna occur (which I block lol) I`d be better LOL But that will happen I know
Hang in there..your race is almost run!
roccotacodad54
·1 year agoKudo to you on your weight loss. Losing weight is one of the hardest things.
My mom used to go to Alaska via the ferrys. She told me it took about a month going up behind the islands on the way but you can look down into the water with polarized sunglasses because you're much closer than on a ship. They had staterooms and she said there were provisions for people to camp on the deck as well if they were going sans vehicle. She also said it took so long because the ferry would go up into various Fiords on the way to deliver mail etc. to little settlements with only ocean access.
I always wanted to do the same but have never had the time. She was a member of the American Goldpanners Assoc.. Her and others would work a sluice box on a claim they had in Alaska. She always managed to get enough gold to pay for the whole trip. She'd fly back.
roccotacodad54
·1 year agoYes you can call me rtc.
It was very sobering. As far as I know they never rebuilt that marina and are eyeballing other places on those lakes (Mead & Mojave) that have similar topography. I live in the PNW now but still have friends and family in the SW.
If you're ever in the desert SW out on 2 lane roads and notice that low areas have a concrete instead of asphalt road surface that is a good indicater the area is prone to flash floods.
