Red Jasper or Coral Help
This necklace is 24" long and weighs 7 ounces. It is marked Cold Water Creek and was sold to me as Red Jasper, but when I do a google image search all it shows is Red Coral. All help is appreciated.

·10 months agoLooks like dyed coral to me. The texture in the beads points more towards coral than jasper.

Authentic red coral is hard to get and a bit too expensive for a cold water creek costume necklace in my honest opinion. It takes a long time to grow and only grows in certain areas of the world.
As y’all have pointed out, it is most likely dyed. Just wanted to give another vote for that.

A hardness test is a better way to tell coral apart from fossils and jasper, as coral is generally softer.
After hardness, checking the pattern is the next best method for identification.

But there is a necklace listed now just like yours and it`s described as Fire Engine Red Coral..(not that that helps you) wait for others in the know
