·2 years agoNow you’re making me laugh. I have a book and bunches of my great aunt’s Mexican jewelry. I’m no expert. I’m leaving that title to y’all. I’ll lend you what I know.
BTW Sarah, all eagle stamps have the number on them but the newer ones after 1955 are easier to see. The old ones tend to run together like yours. I think I see a 3 on yours which would mean Taxco. IMHO I like your bracelet much better than the cleaned one. It’s a great piece.

·2 years agoFrom the source of Mexican marks, Billie Hougart, the eagle stamp system started in 1948 until 1980. There are two type of stamps. The earlier one is more intricate or detailed than the later one. The dates for the earlier one are from 1948 to 1955 and the latter one ranged from 1955 until 1980. To be honest, I think your mark looks like an earlier eagle stamp to me. Can you tell me if the eagle has a number on it? That would definitely shift it to the latter mark. However I’ve seen a lot of my great aunt’s Mexican jewelry that looked similar and she travel quite a bit to Mexico in the 1940s.

·2 years agoWhen I was looking at your photos close up, it looked like maybe rust around the hinges and on the clasp, or could it just be dirty? Might want to test it for silver, I have run across pieces marked sterling that were not.

MEXICAN STERLING SILVER AZTEC MAYAN BRACELET
This is a lovely vintage pre-owned bracelet made in Mexico from solid sterling silver with gold-colored medallions (marked STERLING 925 Heco mexico on inside...see photos).
It is made with 6 sterling panels each depicting an Aztec/Mayan Chief/warrior, Mayan calendar. These medallions are gold in color. Do not know if the gold-colored sections are sterling silver Vermeil or brass. Am hesitant to acid test these areas in case they get damaged during the process so unsure what metal these medallions are made from.
Bracelet fastens with a tongue & slot closure & will fit up to a MAXIMUM of a 6.3/4-inch wrist
1 1/8" wide
It is a well-made piece of jewelry.

OP2 years agoThanks saints! I tried a magnet on the medallions..didn`t stick so I assume they are brass.
Looking close at the one you found..it looks like the 'hinges' are different, or maybe it`s just the lighting. Mine are teeny coils.
