I need someone to tell me what these are not sure they are jewelry | Jewelry & Gemstones Board Group

The material is some type of plastic or maybe bakelite, I have searched all over the net and can't find out what these are. They do connect in the center with a simple hook closure, at first I tought some type of clothing embelishment but I am unsure. They are approximately 2 1/2" in length. All help would be most appreciated.
