Help with a brooch - 1930's?
Coming to the best jewelry place with the best jewelry experts. I have this brooch, about 2.5" across, rollover clasp on the back. Prong and bezel set stones (some stones horribly replaced by gluing in huge rhinestones). Metal is not silver. Trying to date it and any other info. I'm thinking 1930's? I found one other brooch just like it on Etsy for $24 but they knew nothing about it. Are the stones glass? Pot metal? Any help appreciated.

·2 years agoB(etsy) has your brooch listed under "Oval Brooch Clear Stones, Cast Silver Tone Metal Back Bezel and Prongs." The seller's best guess on dating is 1900's to 1930's. You can read her further description on the site. No maker mentioned, though.

OP2 years agoYes, that is the one I was referring to, have already seen it. I'm going with late 1920's due to the clasp, Art Deco, glass stones, pot metal. No markings anywhere on it. Thanks everyone for your help.

Could be even earlier if it`s Art Deco? That was my first thought.

OP2 years agoDid they have rollover clasps in the 20's? I'm kind of fuzzy on where the line is for using them. Do you think pot metal?
