Ebay is picking on me this week
This is a vent, so feel free to change the channel聽馃槣.聽 Three times this week ebay ended one of my items citing search manipulation.聽 I felt nothing was wrong and so did the rep I talked to who guaranteed me it wouldn't happen again.聽 The 2nd time it happened, I called again and was told the same thing, but just in case I moved some of the words around.聽 Taken down again!聽 All 3 times the reps could not tell me what I did wrong, so my listing sat in limbo all week.聽 I did a search for the exact words I used, and found 1,100,000 listings using those words in the title.
聽
I had another listing taken down twice for jewelry policy because I described a rhinestone as sapphire blue, although there are 4,400 listings using sapphire blue in their titles in the fashion jewelry category.
聽
Neither of my listings violated policy.聽 This is a BOT problem that's cost me time, money and aggravation!
聽
Now would you like to hear about my non-paying customers or my returns that ebay is still allowing an extra month for, although the pandemic is essentially over 馃槴?聽聽

路3 years agoI had the same thing happen to me recently for the exact same reason.聽 I used "sapphire blue color" to describe the rhinestones in a necklace.聽 I've used those terms before without a problem. And it was listed in the fashion jewelry category. I had to change it to indigo blue to relist. It is so frustrating. I feel your pain.聽

路3 years agoNot sure how this would work but there is a sapphire blue color, cornflower which might be a work around?

路3 years agoOCN - that would work as a descriptor, but not helpful as a KW Search. I know if I were looking for earrings to match a sapphire blue rhinestone brooch I wouldn't think to search for cornflower. I guess we all just have to accept that less specific KW's for color are the best we can do (for searching and listing).
What I wish is that there would be searchable Item Specifics with these jewel themed common colors - that would help both buyers and sellers.
Not specific to this topic, but a General eBay problem I have is that no matter how specific I make my search, what gets pulled up is a huge number of totally irrelevant items. When that happens, I usually just bail, unwilling to spend so much time plodding through all the junk.

路3 years agoSo sorry you're going thru this dream, IDK if it's bots or someone reporting. I had a listing removed a few weeks ago because it "looked" like it "could" be ivory. It was resin/plastic whatever and even stated as much in the item specifics. Someone had to report it, it's been listed on and off for a year or more. So vent away!!!

路3 years agoAnd yet, so many Mings of Honolulu/Hawaii items that actually have "Ivory" written on the backs get sold on eBay (not to mention various Hawaiian style carved "bovine" pikake or plumeria jewelry items). And detailed photos clearly letting buyers see that the items are Ivory.聽
So, having a listing removed because it "looked" like Ivory does seem inconsistent. Perhaps random sampling? Seems to me if they really cared, it would be easy to identify certain items (like the ones I mentioned) that routinely were made of Ivory and are frequently listed here
