·8 months agoIt's orginally from the depression. My mother made it every christmas. My youngest nephew calls it peanut butter sushi.
Just to make sure you slice it thin, about 1/8 inch. This is very rich. And I found that if you refrigerate it for about 15 minutes before you cut, it cuts a whole lot better. Count on one lb of powdered sugar for every 3 in of potato.

·8 months agoGoing home today. Youngest nephew is taking me home and helping me with some errands before he goes home. I have a wonderful family.
My older brother is very happy I'm coming home, since he doesn't have to ship anything for me after today. He has shipped out over 100 packages for me in the last 6 weeks. I have to get him a very good christmas gift.

Here`s a pretty easy recipe. I like she used plain baked potatoes instead boiling them in water (can be difficult to drain completely. (no leftover mashed potatoes,,gotta be plain)
So mashed potatoes, confectioner sugar & peanut butter..that`s it
1/4 tsp vanilla is optional

Surgery here went well. It wasn't so bad and I'm already feeling so much better.

·9 months agoGood news, I have traded in my walker for a cane. I am still stiff but it is getting better. I hate the exercises but I won't get better without them. Second PT session is this Friday.

On a totally different note, since I was here....I went out to bring trash cart back to house & lo & behold I saw flowers blooming in my people garden!!!
Crocuses But I didn`t know they`d bloom this time of year & they came up thru the weed control mat I`d put down under the mulch & before I put my people & critters out. I went online & all I could find that can sometimes bloom this time in my area is the purple ones.
So, spent awhile in the C O L D moving my figurines & raking away the mulch so I could pull up all the weed control mat (had planned on doing it for several months anyway once I saw it didn`t stop the weeds LOL) But I wanted to go ahead get it up now in case there`s anything else wants to pop up!
I guess it`s wishful thinking to think Spring is on the way???? 😃

·8 months agoI feel like an infant sometimes. Too my first steps without the cane yesterday. Only in the house for now. Hopefully off it within a week. PT people were happy with the progress I made on my own. They don't realize how motivated I am to get rid of this cane for at least the next 10 years.

·8 months agoAwww scifi.. I can imagine how you are feeling..just try & stay focused on the road ahead..the end will be here before you know it & your journey will have been so very worth it!
You have certainly been an inspiration to me..your determination to follow this thru when so many would have given up & said to heck with it long ago! (me included)
I can visualize your mom smilin down on you right now..saying: "Keep on girl..you can do it, you`re almost there & I`m so proud of you!"
That cane will soon be takin up space in a closet & nuttin more than a memory for you!

OP8 months agoScifi, you are doing so well. The cane will fall away. You have worked so hard to get where you are. You only have a little further to go and you are on the down slope. Keep it up.

·8 months agoTook my first outing without the cane, went to Denny's for breakfast with sister. Then to WalLy world. Used the cart at Wally world to lean on but made it thru without any falls or balance problems. Still have it in the car just in case, you never know when the knee will say I'm done.

OP9 months agoHi ya'll. Sorry I have been MIA lately. I've been dealing with some health issues since April so have good days and bad days. I try to keep up with the board and since it has been kind of slow, I don't think I have missed anything.
So, after tests and tests and tests, I will be having my gallbladder out tomorrow. Should be pretty simple but would appreciate a few prayers and some good vibes being sent this way.
John will be taking me and bringing back from surgery, and I will be staying with Michelle's mom for the rest of the week. Then I should be able to come home by the weekend. Stemmie will stay with John and Michelle until then.
We will be going over to John's for Thanksgiving which should be great. Hopefully this will take care of my problems, and I can get back to my normal self, it sure would be great.
Hope everyone has some great turkey and family get togethers!

But just think how much better you are gonna feel once you`re healed up! Thankfully have never had to deal with anything like that, but I imagine it`s miserable.
Nice that you have a place to go & family close!

·9 months agoSandy, hope your surgery went well today. Hopefully this fixes the issues you've had.
Planning for my physical therapy has been a cluster. Back when they first scheduled it, they scheduled the original place I went not paying attention to I won't be there. Then they moved it to a town right beside where I live. No good again. Thought it was straightened out, got there and the approval wasn't good til after 12/3. Thought we got it straightened again only to find they approved one visit before 12/3. Did see them today and my knee think they are related to a marquis from desade.

·10 months agoSurgery is scheduled for Nov 17th. I will be staying with my sister for the 6 weeks after surgery. Scared? Yes. Glad to be getting rid of my cane? Also yes.

·10 months agoRight knee. The left has a little life in it. As for doing what the dr says...won't have a choice. I am staying with my sister til after my 6 week appointment. She is worse than a drill sgt.

·9 months agoI feel like I have ran a marathon. Every time I think I have everything covered for my 6 weeks away, something else shows up.
Finally got my physical therapy scheduled after several paperwork mixups. Dang doctor's office kept trying to set me up with therapists near my home address, somewhere I am not going to be.
People at work are panicking because now they realized that what I have been saying for a year is coming true. They have had over a year to learn things but now they realize they have run out of time. The next few days are going to be fun.
After my first 2 weeks away, my brother is going to do my Ebay mailing for me. Hated missing that last 2 weeks of Nov sales but it can't be helped. He is on vacation during that time.
I have started to ramble. Everyone stay warm and safe.

Ramble all ya want...surgery of any kind is no fun! You`re getting antsy I`m sure..but don`t let stress bog ya down. Don`t want bp probs on top of everything else! 😉
You can only plan so much..and just remember..if I remember correctly..holiday sales on Ebay are nothing to write home about, unless you`re selling new stuff or highly sought after collectibles.
That`s sweet of your brother to step up & help with your shipping, tho! At least you`re not shut down completely! LOL

I`ve heard people describe things as being so beautiful they were brought to tears..I now know what they meant! I can`t tell you how many times I was tearing up & sitting there with a huge lump in my throat! Seeing pics in a book doesn`t do them justice, for sure
I didn`t know about the items they began making first..those are gorgeous also..but the eggs...oh my word!! Each one more exquisite than the other!!
It`s a shame the secrets hidden in the couple early pcs disappeared..but such beauty in them all!
And the documentary itself is very interesting..seeing the reels & hearing about it..much better than reading a book on it.
I am sooooooooo happy you shared this..I`d probably never have seen it.
Now I can confess..in spite of viewing a lot of it thru tears (from the beauty) that dang PIG popped up & made me laugh!!!! 😂

·10 months agoWas away for a few days for a work event for my main job. However, I saw the surgeon yesterday. The surgery is on. I am waiting for his scheduler to call and get a date. I hate having to away mode my store in the middle of December but that is when they estimated the surgery will happen. I will keep you updated.
Sarah, the berries on your bush look like some we have here in AZ. I see birds eating them all the time.

·10 months agoWell darn..I`d marked my calendar for the 15th as your day! My bad! I was so hoping you`d have it all behind you. So just keep hangin in..you`ve done tremendous so far..don`t worry about your store..Dec most people are at the Malls or Marts, or wantin all new stuff anyway.
I need to do an image search on thattropicabush..make sure the berries are ok for birds. I got rid of all the Nandina berries so they`re safe from those..at least at MY house anyway LOL

It`s a Saw Palmetto (hence South Carolina being called the Palmetto State LOL (duh me!) and main thing is the berries are GOOD for the birds! I have a couple more but they are buried inside other huge bushes.
I plan on keeping this one cleaned out as best I can anyway.
And now ya know why they call SC roaches Palmetto Bugs too (sounds nicer I guess) LOL

OP10 months agoI just bought an electric heater for my bedroom. The fireplace in the living room really keeps it warm. If I need to I have a small electric heater to help it and one for the office. I will try to use electric heat most of the time and only use propane for the really, really cold nights. Electric is included in my rent!

Getting to do a test run this morning..is a wee bit chilly this morning so, closed the curtains..turned the fireplace on & is already beginning to warm up in here.
Course His Majesty still has to have his back door open lol but that`s ok..he`s in the dining room!
I think this is gonna work out just fine..the last house was very well insulated & had great windows.
I don`t even have storm windows here..but trust me..if I have to, if by chance we DO have a cold winter (which I doubt), I know how to put plastic on the windows! 😉
My little girl kitty Pixe, LOVED my small bathroom heater. Once I got it out for the season..in the evening all I had to do was say " Mama gonna go take a shower" & that lil thing would beat me to the bathroom & sit in front of the heater waiting for me to turn it on. Was so cute! I miss her.😿

OP11 months agoHas anyone noticed the moon the last couple of days. Huge, bright and beautiful. I just set outside and peacefully enjoyed it.

·10 months agoWelcome to Grandmas house! LOL Is what it reminds me of..but I like it!
2 inexpensive tension rods..2 twin sheets, sewed up to make 2 room divider curtains. 😀 The living room is larger than my den was at last place, & as I`d turned fireplace on the other morning when it was chilly..I noticed the difference.
So to make sure my fireplace keeps it cozy enough in the evenings especially...this will help & not have to turn heat up! And kitty can go in & out of the rooms as he pleases lol And I`ll only close them as needed

People can say what they want about the beauty of spring when things are blooming..but there`s nothing to compare to the colors of autumn! For me anyway..esp since we don`t have much color here
If I were to own my own place..I`d have at least one room wallpapered in nothing but fall scenes! 😀
Impossible to pick a fav..so I just grab one! LOL
