New Postage Rates????????
Wow--have any of you shipped any jewelry under the new rates? A 2 ounce padded envelope was 7.69 today--up from 5.59 just last week. This insanity at the postal service has to stop--they are going to price themselves right out of the market. Now I have to go in and change my shipping on all the jewelry items--what a bugger!! And that price was for an item going less than 1000 miles away. Can't imagine how much it's going to be to send something all the way across the US.

The idiot site won't resize photos now. Do the best you can. No photos from a live auction. I wanted to do some hunting today, but someone helping Mom move arrived early without calling first, and blew the only window I had thanks to high temps , humidity, and smoke. Gee thanks. I have no idea what I'm going to upload. I can't put a larger picture in and still see what I'm typing.

There's been a lot of frustration over the new forum layouts. Many are not happy about the insertion of AI, the loss of many valuable posts and pinned threads and the difficulty in finding their previous "homes." Our board is now a sub-board under the Jewelry & Watches category. The path to reach this board is to go to the eBay Community>Explore Categories>Jewelry & Watches From there, scroll all the way down under the posts and you'll see very boring pictures of watches with orange backgrounds. Ours is labeled "Jewelry & Gemstones." Many times over the years people have commented that they didn't know we existed. Well, no wonder when you have to enter a maze to find us. If any of you are in touch with other board members, please pass this on or send them a link so they can find us. Just follow the yellow brick road.

The family of Schreiner Jewelry Post
The family of Schreiner Jewelry are still alive and kicking. Mom, Terry, is 89, and can't believe how my parents, and grandfathers creations have become so collectable. My dad's , Ambros, famous ruffle pin retailed for $7.50 in the mid 1950ss. It now often sells for over $750.00. She is also very unhappy of crooked dealers claiming they have unsigned Schreiner, when it's not even close to anything we produced. I have written a dealer in Cal. several times to remove things that are clearly not Schreiner. She accused me of being another dealer trying to make her look bad... really! Buyers beware of anything unsigned unless you have experience identifing Schreiner pieces, and don't believe them if they claimed it's verrified. Sometimes I will post on a piece if it is clearly a Schreiner piece, and allow the seller to use my post. Many books have poor information about my family's business. One dealer claimed Sphinx is a hallmark of Schreiner, and listed some book from the 70ss, that stated it. Schreiner Jewelry was only made in NYC, not in Europe, or any place else. We did design for many of the best ready-to-wear, designers of the 30ss- 70ss, that was sold to them unsigned, but only made by us in NYC. These pieces were sold with the garment. Keep images smaller, if you can, to speed loading. As usual, nothing from a live sale. Not that we need to worry much now, since I don't think anyone new can even find the board never mind break the rules.

Simulated gems falsely being sold as Natural on eBay.
Most of the loose so called "Natural" gemstones listed on eBay are "simulated or synthetic". I am a certified gemologist and I have just looked at approximately 50, so called "Natural" zircons listed on eBay and 49 were definitely not what they were supposed to be. My recommendation is that you don't buy gemstones through eBay unless you know what you are doing because the likelihood is you will not get what you bargained for. If you can not test the stone yourself it will cost you between AU$80-$180 to have it tested by a certified gemologist. So if you pay $100 for a stone and have it tested by a gemologist and the gemologist charges $80 and informs you that the stone is a simulant, you will be entitled to a refund under eBay's policy but you'll be $80 out of pocket with nothing to show for it.
