Mystery Dangle, Costume Necklace; Any Ideas?
Hi all. I have a lovely costume vintage necklace with a dangle I cant find anywhere. I looked on Flipping Treasures site but did not think I saw it; I dont know other places to look. Here is the piece, and if anyone can help me with my dangly bit

Your necklace is Lisner. Lots of jewelry folks used this pinecone hangtag with variations.

Again, there is a reason that Sandy has mystery dangles categories. I think the jewelry company that used this particular pinecone motif dangle liked to copy other well known Jewelry house designs such as Lisner, Coro etc.
I did review Sandy's site again and this Jewelry dangle vvvv
 is listed under Lisner, I believe Coro used this one. So the plot thickens....

·2 years agoMystery 14 and 31 appear to be the same pinecone, but different chains on the necklaces. Is that why it has 2 separate entries @silverstatetreasureboxes ?

That link you gave to the OP that has the purple shell set with pinecone, I have the cream set that's why I originally said it's Lisner. Vvvvvvv
 I have this same set made in the 50s, same darn pinecone thingy. If I can find my set I'm sure it had a siggy on it.

Potentially that still leaves mystery 31 as a mystery?

I see that mark, that was probably created when the piece was stamped in a Die, a small loose slag if you will could have been present in top Die stamp and created this imperfection on the pine cone dangle.

Poster wastingtime and I have tried to solve the pinecone mystery and apparently it has been a long-term mystery! This dangle was created for a variety of jewelry makers who probably weren't on the higher-end. Companies such as Coro for instance used numerous dangles thru the years and it also helped date their pieces.
Some jewelry companies used only paper tags and most were lost, top of my head is Tara's.
I told poster wasting that I have a piece of jewelry with said pinecone dangle just like yours and all I can do is to pinpoint some time frame of 50s-60s ( Lady was 100 yrs old and stated this).
I'm going to try periodically to search deeper into this but judging from the other forum sites it's going to be hard, best to you Silver

According to a costume jewelry collectors website:
Juliana – a collector's nickname given to jewelry made by DeLizza & Elster – pieces were originally marked only with paper hang tags and only on select pieces made for a short time in the late 1960s. Most of those tags were discarded when the original owners wore the pieces leaving the jewelry unmarked today.
I found another necklace with the same clasp on Etsy. Do a search for "Vintage choker. Reminiscent of 1950s classic car with wings."

OP2 years agoHi. Thank you for your reply, and I appreciate the time you took to look for this...how did you do that search? But this piece is far too simple to be a Juliana D&E collection. I did, however, look on a Juliana website to be sure, and none of the necklaces dangles were anything similar. ·2 years agoCan you get a better photo of the clasp @susanseeks ? Perhaps higher res image so we can zoom?
I tried to clear up your picture because there's clearly some kind of marking on the piece at the end, but the resolution was too low for me to enlarge without a lot of pixelation. Can't make out that mark.

OP2 years agoHi....I am not quite sure what you are wanting...when you say the clasp...do you mean the hook part or the pinecone dangle? Thank you so much for clarifying.... I went over the hook and pinecone with my loupe, after I read your letter, and there was no mark on the piece. What are you seeing that I am not...or maybe its some odd flash reflection?

·2 years agoDon't worry about it. By clasp I meant both the hook and the pinecone - if I used the term incorrectly I apologize. It looks in the photo like there's a mark on the pinecone, like a horizontal like or something in the middle of the pinecone in the above photo.
It appears to be on Flipping Treasures twice - mystery dangle 14 and 31?
