Jewelry designer Bill Smith for Richelieu - vintage pin
Hi,
Any more info about the artist? What is the material of this piece - real gold? What is the clip on the back for? Are the colors enamel? Age? Value? One of a kind or were there multiples made?
Thanks!!!

·1 year agoHello! I love this piece! I am happy to give you more information on it.
This is a Russian gold plated lotus designed by Bill around 1968-1969 while he was VP of Design at Richelieu. It is part of his India Folkways collection and also came in red enamel. This was a mass produced piece. It can be seen in my book, Visionary Designs by Bill Smith, tj. Please let me know if I can be of further help!

·5 months agoHi! I could use your help. I ordered your book from a Fort Wayne museum, paid and never received.
That's not what I need help with though. I purchased this very unique ring at auction. The original tag attached was a big clue, as the ring has no marks. I was able to research Bill Smith and came across your gallery of Bill's amazing pieces. And was thrilled to see a picture of this ring. I believe you described it as a woman. It is a man laying on his side, nude. The man has whip marks on his back and his legs and arms have something organic wrapped around them, holding him down. It looks like Jesus to me. I would love to know more about this ring and give it it's proper dues. It's quite awesome. Thank you!
