Help with Native American Sterling Hallmarks
Hi everyone, I am at a loss! I have 4 sterling silver bracelets with the same hallmark and I'm hoping that someone can help me determine the artist. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you very much in advance.

·7 months ago999 not sterling but almost pure silver for one and i do believe its associated with navajo jewelry. its definately cool and a keeper.

OP7 months agoIt is kind of unusual to have a pure silver bracelet. It was a force of habit that I wrote sterling in the title. I will continue my search. I'll be listing it next Sunday (2/15) and I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone will recognize the mark.

OP7 months agoYes, that is one of the sites that I use most often after I've checked in the Bille Hougart Book. I've not been able to find any information. I'll look at the site again. Many thanks

·7 months agoI did a quick google and google AI says probably Zuni silversnith Cecil Waatsa (or one of his family).
I'd start my search there.
Oh and as ccomic alluded to, sterling is .925 this bracelet is stamped .999...............(better purity).........

·7 months agoAI is really bad at this stuff. It's not a Waatsa mark and the style is Navajo, not Zuni.
I'm not seeing this mark come up on any of my go-to Native American hallmark sites, nor am I finding the mark with some Google searching.
She may not be around, but we can ask @silverstatetreasureboxes if she recognizes it.

I'm still here in the hospital awaiting discharge.
If I had to guess I would say your mark is a shop mark. It's purity mark is quite unusual also and it looks Navajo as well. I've been on several sites with nothing coming up. Some close stampage like "3" but not like yours. Sorry, Silver

·7 months agoSays .999FS, so I would assume that (not sterling) until you get it verified. You might be able to take it to a local silver dealer that has a machine that can read the purity (and if it actually is silver) as anything can be stamped with anything 🙂 .

I too have checked with my several go-to sources for Native America jewelry including my Bille Hougart Silver Hallmarks book as well as online but I'm not finding anything. You are correct, AI does not do very well with the hallmarks. I will continue to search and concentrate on Navajo with a secondary search for Cecil Waatsa just in case. Also, I'll try to contact silverstatetreasureboxes. By the way, I do have access to the XRF Analyzer so this morning I'll take advantage of that source and check the silver purity of all 3 pieces. I'll post again this afternoon after I've checked the metal. Thanks again to all of you. You're the BEST!

OP7 months agoThe result of the XRF Analyzer turned out to be exactly as hallmarked on the bottom of the bracelet. It is in fact 999 Fine Silver. I am attaching a couple of photos showing the results on the analyzer.
