Bought a turquoise ring at a yard sale. The stone test a diamond. How to find it's worth?
Just had a large community wide yard sale in my area. Found this gem. Nothing stamped on the inside and looks custom made. The small stone test as a diamond on my Presidium Gem Tester II. How would i go about finding any information on it? Is it Native American? The house I bought it at was among tons of other houses, so I wouldn't remember. Do you think it's sterling? I can't imagine someone putting a real diamond in a pewter or silverplate ring. Thanks in advance.

·1 year agoBecause it has another stone, diamond or not, I would say that this wasn't made by Native Peoples. Just because it has a turquoise stone do not assume that it is Native made. Anyone can go to a rock hound shop and pick up a polished stone to place in a setting. I would generally say that it was handmade/handcast. It's a bit rough on the inside, not really smooth. If you really spend some time looking at Native American rings, you'll see what I mean. Of course I have looked, admired and worn them since the '70's. Why it has a 'diamond' is a bit odd, but perhaps the budding artist wanted to take a hip from Mom's (or Dad's) ring and combine it with their birthstone for the ring that they were making.
I could come up with all kinds of stories to tell you !
You could take it to a jeweler in town and just ask them can you tell me if these are 'real' stones, many will help you out, but I would stay out of the Very high end ones.
