Antique / vintage 18kt gold chain / necklace with clover makers mark.
I was hoping someone could help me with this 18k gold chain. The makers mark looks like a clover with 18k stamped inside. I been trying for quite sometime to find who the maker is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can tell from the blurry picture, the characters on my bracelet do seem pretty “childlikeâ€; Even more so than what you’ve shared. Won it in an online auction which was listed as 14K. Wasn’t until I brought it to a jeweller who informed me it was 18K through XRF testing, that I clued in that those characters read 18KT. Similarly, I’ve been unsuccessful in identification but am thrilled to see your piece (and to know we share a struggle haha)!

OP2 years agoWow! It looks like the same makers mark to me! When I had my necklace tested the clasp was 18k the rest of the piece was 14k. Interesting! I believe these pieces are older than I had originally thought!

OP2 years agoHello Rockstar! Seems your suspicions were correct. I brought it to my jeweler and she tested it. The clasp is 18kt gold however the chain itself is 14kt gold. This could bring a host of different explanations. The clasp was replaced at one time, the clasp was put on a different chain etc... I appreciate all your work you did.. I wish a great holiday season! Again Thanks for the help! M.S.

Hmmm the only clover stamp that I can recall is Van Cleef & Arpel ( sp) that is their signature logo.

OP2 years agoThank you very much I appreciate your time. I had found also which began in 1968, I believe this is older and Van Cleef and Arpel I believe marked their pieces VCA. I think. Thank you again...

OK, that was off the top of my head while I was baking cookies!
VC&A has a tower in their MM. Give me some time and I'll see what I come up with Mark.

Yes my cookies are yummy..OK let's get back to your necklace Mark.
Several concerns I have, your nice safety bar closure tells me it's not as old as one might think. That 4 leaf clover with the 18 KT on the inside of clover is too Whimsical in nature to be used by a jeweler on a piece that would be valued at over 1k. The 4 leaf clover looks almost identical to the 4H club, just tweeked enough to avoid a copyright violation. Example vvvvv
 now here's yours vvvvv
view your K stamp, it looks " childlike" " comical" even the clover looks very crooked and not symmetrical.......this was not done in the USA, my guess is Indonesia or China.
The chain link is some type of Figaro. I would suggest this, please get this tested for 18k before listing by a reputable jeweler and not a home acid test. I could not find anything on a stamp like this one and I even went to Trademarks.
Have a good Thanksgiving, and please let us know the results. Silver
