What exactly is it for?

I found 2 of these little pieces. Not very big, about 3 1/4" tall and 2 3/4" long and 2 5/8" wide. And each has a blind 3/16" hole drilled in it. Each one weighs a little over 2 lbs. I know they are some sort of track. But what are they for?

Probably used as an anvil for small light work. People make them out of railroad track and other track such as what you have
