These perennial bulb plants from South Africa are the unsung heroes of the plant/art world. They are a perfect houseplant and can be sculpted into wonderful shapes of your choosing using your fingertip. This leafless plant if cared for properly might outlive its owner and provide many offspring to share with other plant lovers and enthusiasts. It will exuberantly grow toward the light so it benefits from a matrix on which to climb. It might rapidly ascend a curtain if allowed to. It is very drought tolerant, so be cautious not to water until near dry. A moisture meter or pointed chopstick would be very useful. Insert the chopstick and leave it for ten minutes. When removed it can be read like a dipstick. If it's still moist, wait until it is dry. Then water thoroughly and after a half and hour discard any remaining water in the saucer. I've been growing them for sixty years to great joy and admiration.
