Vintage Coach Handbag Hangtag Help
Good morning everyone
Could someone help me understand the Vintage Coach handbag hangtag world please?
For example: What years was it double sided? Single sided? What years were what sizes? Or were all years the same size? Or any other information that is useful to understanding this.
It seems I have to ask a seller every time now whether the tag is original and of course their answer isn't always accurate so I would like to have a better handle on this.
I would also like to know if I need to source a HT for a bag that doesn't come with one.

·8 months agoI can't help with specifying which types of hangtags were from different years.
What I will say is that although some vintage/classic styles used double sided hangtags, some of those double sided ones separated. (Glue can break down and the 2 halves can separate.) Other hangtags are single sided and it can be difficult to tell whether a single sided one was made that way or is half of a double-sided one.
Another thing to keep in mind that hangtags are quite easy to replicate. And while some fakes are easy to identify as such, others are difficult to authenticate.
@super_shopper_girl although you stated that in your opinion, "Hangtags really matter as to the value. If a hangtag is missing it is worth much less in my opinion," I don't necessarily agree unless one is buying bags to display and collect. For every day use, I (personally) couldn't care less if it has a hangtag, whether the original or an authentic replacement.

OP8 months agoThank you. I guess when one buys a vintage bag and some of those can be quite expensive, a consideration can be that one might want to sell it one day. So if the hangtag is missing or not authentic, it can matter in that case. I'm no expert, that is just my thought about it.

·8 months agoI would not worry about it. Put in your listing, near the top of the description “No Hangtagâ€. Maybe put it in again in the title if there is room because most people don’t see the description anyway. If there is an area in the forced list, select missing hangtag.
I used to worry about it. I think the only people who are concerned are collectors and seriously most Coach isn’t collectible.

OP8 months agoI am buying not listing. Hangtags really matter as to the value. If a hangtag is missing it is worth much less in my opinion. I should have specified that the question refers to vintage so i will change that in the initial post.
If it is missing, I am trying to understand what to know to replace the missing hang tag. If it is there, I am trying to understand about it to determine its authenticity as I was misled a couple of times recently.

·8 months agoThey used to ban selling them on eBay but no longer. Coach used to replace them for free but they stopped that years ago. So you can try looking on eBay. Perhaps Alberta can advise on what years had which type hangtags.
