Ebay just removed this listing. Would anyone know why? I've read on Facebook that the J8P is the red flag. is that true and why? Learning as I go along.

I'm sorry but the listing was correctly removed. The bag is fake.
In this case, what you read about "J8P" prefixes is partially correct.
J8P can be a valid serial prefix when the creed states that the bag was made in Costa Rica.
P is the plant code for Costa Rica so if a creed states that it's a US-made bag (as your creed shows), the bag is fake.

OP1 month agoThank-you so much for your response. I had no idea that the Plant Prefixes should match the Creed and that makes total sense. I'm glad I found this platform for confirmation. It's never my intent to sell a Coach bag that is not authentic. I will be much more careful moving forward making sure I'm not in this situation again. Thank-you, Thank-you!

·1 month agoWith Coach, there are very few "rules" and many of the rules you find online are incorrect, obsolete or just plain wrong.
It's not as simple as checking a plant code to see whether it "matches" the country because depending on when a bag was made, even plant codes can indicate different countries on genuine bags.
As an example, M can be a US plant, a Costa Rican plant or a Chinese plant.
Then on some fakes, the year and plant can "match" correctly but fonts can be incorrect.
In other words, it's best to verify.

OP1 month ago · EditedWhew, I remember in the 80's when Coach bags were very popular where I was from. I always admired them from afar, but my salary could not afford it. In the 90's I was able to afford two pieces then got bored with them and sold them in the early 2000'. Ugh, I regret it now. I found this bag on Poshmark and didn't think anything about the Creed, Code etc.. I never expected that any of the Coach's I had admired in the 80's and 90's would fall victim to Fakes? This is such a learning curve for me. I know now that before listing any vintage ones especially, to get them authenticated should I decide to sell. There are so many variables involved. Yup lesson learned. Thank-you again!
