Authentic Louis Vuitton purse removed
I was wondering if anyone here can help. I had my listing removed because they said it was counterfeit?!?! I know it is 100% authentic because I personally bought it myself at an Louis Vuitton store in Nashville. I posted detailed pictures, all angles with date code as well. I also mention that I will send a copy of my original receipt. I contacted customer service practically brushed me off and stuck to their decision. They said “experts†determined this. I said they should get real experts because whomever said this about my bag obviously does not have a clue about authentic LV’s!! Has this happened to anyone??

I sell on a consignment bases for a number of high end clients. I was given three LV purses recently to sell for a client. I listed and sold one however once it reached the authentication process it was returned for not being authenticate. I know my seller personally. She recently purchased 5 LV purses online directly from LV so I have absolutely no doubt the purse is authentic. I've been toying with the idea of selling on Poshmark for sometime. This was the determining factor for changing to another selling platform.

·2 years agoUnless you PERSONALLY bought the items, you are taking a client's word for it (and putting your own account at risk) by listing items you didn't verify authenticity of first.
Unless you are expert in the brand and are skilled in authenticating, it's always a good idea to get expert eyes (and possibly a professional) to verify items. COAs from proven reputable companies give reassurance to buyers that they'll get what they pay for and they also add credibility to your reputation as a seller.
I don't know the item you sold and claim that the authenticators deemed as fake and I don't question that they've erred in the past, both in deeming fakes as authentic and authentic items as fake. But with an item that you didn't buy directly from LV, you don't know who made the mistake either.

·2 years agoI am the one who posted "unfair treatment to sellers". I have been a member with eBay since 2018, I think it says there somewhere. I have always commented on the seller, as requested or encouraged. Asked questions to the seller in order to keep things private, etc, you know? plenty of people depend on selling their items for some extra money. But going back to your point, I uploaded quite a few items, in this cases purses, a few Louis Vuitton's... one Louis Vuitton I couldn't even upload, not one picture because their system read it as a fake. How can it do that?? So, I figured the system does not recognize the shape or something however, I purchased that bag from either Fashionph/TheRealReal. They certify things with humans so I was at peace with this purse anyway, I simply did not want it anymore. eBay did not give me any other issues with any of the other purses, it did give me the option to edit the pictures. My pics were very bad. A few days after posting I received an email regarding one of purses being removed because it was a fake. This was simply a Coach but like you, my purse was and is not a fake. I always go and get my purses in person and if I cannot I order them online from their online store. The online buying started with the pandemic like everyone or most everyone that one bag and another Coach were purchased off their site. But, I never used them. That particular purse is still selling on the online store, so they can even be compared to one another. I was upset. I have so many bags to sell to make more room for Luxury brands which is why I want to rid myself of the ones that I uploaded, I posted exactly 19, but I have many more. Someone kindly suggested that I send her pictures of said purse, I spent hours taking better pictures of all of them and then added a few more to sell on another site. I then spent a century trying to send the pictures, better ones, and it drove me insane. However, I was told that someone must have thought it was not real and flagged it. I have never heard of that. eBay should have contacted me and requested more pictures or something. I was very frustrated yesterday or the day before. But, I will go with another site, more successful with sales in what fashion is concerned, when you sell the item then goes to an authenticator, and then to the buyer. Best way to go. I don't need to be told that what I know to be authentic, including the luxury brads (LV mahina, the one I could not upload one picture of), are fake when I know I was purchasing in person or off the online site. Or TheRealReal. There are more sites, I recommend you try that out. ... forget about it either way if in person or online LouisVuitton.com site... move on.
I have no idea how anyone can decide that an item if real or fake by looking at a couple of pics. That sort of strikes me as funny.

I just have one more thing to add. It wasn't me that posted that, but there's a popular book from 2022 ... it' a novel called "Counterfeit" by Kristin Chen. It is fiction, but it's about that whole process. about 2 women who set up a business doing just that. Returning expensive 'fake' designer purses to high-end stores & getting full price back. Something on that order. I read it, it's okay, readable ... you might find it interesting. It might be a "Read with Jenna" book or one of those book club selections ... it's an easy read ... I'm sure taken from real life.

·2 years agoYes other sellers have run into it too. eBay is also getting very hard nosed about banning sellers for life. I would lay off of any LV merchandise.
Companies don't like their wares being sold in a venue like this. Having it for sale at lower than retail prices cheapens it in their mind. They think of flea-markets as one notch above Cajun rules dog fighting. Don't want their merchandise anywere near it. So, they throw their weight around with the VERO program to remove it.

·2 years agoWhen you contacted Customer Service did you use the phone or the Chats on social media?
The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

·2 years agoChat won't help, as you found out. You would've wanted to use the reps on facebook, although they won't do anything either because sounds like it was removed by ebay, and not 'after sale- authentication return'...
Someone will be by to look at your pictures, there's a few very good 'pros' here: hang tight.

Yes I’m waiting for an expert to really review my pictures because someone on here mentioned that there has been cases that people have bought purses in the Louis Vuitton stores that were fake because it’s a return someone made and their “experts†put them back and sold them as new thinking they were real! That is sooo CRAZY to me and really hard to believe!

OP2 years agoHere are the pictures, I even have a video. Maybe the confusion is I had listed it, later did not like the pictures and instead of revising it, I ended the listing and started a new listing with the new pictures 🙄

I had the same thing happen in 2018. I listed a few Louis Vuitton items on my other account. They belonged to my mother & after keeping them for a long time for sentimental reasons, I decided to sell off a few items. They were 100% authentic ... I purchased them myself at Saks Fifth Ave. They were vintage, probably 30 years old, so of course I had no receipt.
They were the larger size wallets ... my mom kept them in perfect condition. I had lots of good photos, over 3000+ .... 100% feedback, ... but as soon as I put them up, they were taken right down by Ebay for being "counterfeit."
I'm a bookseller so it was a different type of item for me to sell. I had sold some designer handbags before but never LV. All I did was email Ebay & they 'allowed' me to put them back up. They sold quickly, buyers were happy & that was that. I have more LV items to list (mom was a collector) but I haven't attempted to yet. I'm not sure if I even want to sell them on ebay, with all the scammers now.
Times were probably different ...I didn't have to have them authenticated or anything like that. So while it did happen to me, I'm sure others that have more knowledge of this category will have some better advice to give you going forward.
If you sold that handbag back in Nov., did you have any problems listing it?

OP2 years agoWow, definitely different times. I have been confident buying designer items because of their authentification before shipping to buyer, not anymore! If they can mess up mine, I imagen there’s many more that fall through the cracks!

I doubt that revising it caused the removal, but revising it probably isn't the best idea either. I know once they let me put it back up, I left it alone. But I'm pretty sure your listing would have been removed anyways.
Ebay removes a ton of listings in all categories, just spend some time on the boards & you'll see. I've had many listings removed for non-existent reasons. I once listed a book by the prolific author James Patterson. He writes thrillers, but his first romance novel was called "Sundays at Tiffany's." I listed it along with many other sellers & my listing was removed because I wasn't authorized to sell Tiffany's jewelry! What? It was a book, listed in the book category. Got that one put back up as well! That was the most ridiculous removal of all the ones I had taken down.

It's a shame they make it so hard for us. I know they have to have safeguards in place, but still. I also have a lot more LV items I always planned on listing on ebay .. I have luggage & everything, but it's just taking up space, as I'm not using it myself. My daughter took one purse as a keepsake from Grandma (the Speedy, of course) :), but that's it, so I guess for now, it will stay here...

Is it a different bag than the one you sold on November 26? (I'm assuming it's a different bag because that listing wasn't removed so it must have passed authenticity.....unless it was unpaid and relisted.)
Was it removed as counterfeit or was it authenticity undetermined by authenticators?
Can you post pictures and LV experts can offer opinions?

My understanding is the listing got removed, not sold and sent to authenticators. Where do I post the pictures on here?

OP2 years agoThe Louis Vuitton I sold back in November was another bag. The buyer paid then asked to cancel because she used the wrong card to pay. She never responded after that and then I decided to keep that one.

·2 years agoIf you listing was removed from eBay there is no relisting it.
Customer service is known to not be 100% reliable.
It may or may not have been looked at by a person.
LV is very strict and eBay, it seems, tends to err on the side of caution with selling some items.
Even if you can get it authenticated at the LV store, dont relist it here.

·2 years agoI assume it was the authentication people. I am not familiar with that purse, but you certainly took nice pictures.
There are other places you can use to have it authenticated..not for resale on eBay, but for your own piece of mind. Contact the LV store where you bought it , and ask if they could look at it, and take your receipt.
Those large sales that fall through really put a dent in the budget. I know as I sent a sapphire ring to a lady, it was authenticated , she got it, and now says it doesn’t look like the pictures. So it is back at the authenticity people, and then back to me. Keep us posted.

·2 years agoHas happened to many because even a LV store take 'returns' and sometimes the 'worker' accepts a 'fake'- gives refund; puts back on shelf for 'next buyer'.
Post the pictures of it here, someone will be along that is pretty good at seeing these type things.

OP2 years agoWow, are you kidding? I thought everyone that works in a LV store is an expert on authenticating their items!!! I hope that did not happen to me! If that’s the case, I am sure I have all the proofs of purchasing that particular bag on that date. I’m sure there’s some type of records for proof?
