Question about Mens Pants: What is this?

Hello folks, I am sending a copy of a pair of pants and inside the waist there are buttons. What are the buttons for? Suspenders?

Are these pants old fashioned? Vintage? I'm going to try and sell them and need keywords, thanks.

Not sure exactly what year they are but @smiling66 provided a good link to research a little more. They still make pants with suspender buttons.
