News On Louis Vuitton Date Codes And Authenticaton
In January 2021, Louis Vuitton announced that they will be switching from using heat-stamped date codes to integrated micro chips and RFID chips in all of their products. These items will not have date codes but will continue to say where the item was made unless it is made in the USA. Louis Vuitton has been utilizing this technology since February on many Neverfull Clubs and Empreinte Neverfulls. This is a contentious issue at LV and with consumers because authenticators will now have less ways to tell if a Louis Vuitton item is real or fake, and RFID chips and other chips can be hacked very easily and many times from a remote location even. These are steps taken to clearly help stop counterfeiting but it may come up here as well. There are many new bags and other LV items that are already confusing owners because they have no date code anywhere but only say where the item was made. This is a heads up as I'm sure owners will ask questions about missing date codes and heat stamps and many new bags will not have any. This does not necessarily mean they are counterfeit but it is something to be aware of.

SO stupid.
The best thing Louis Vuitton can do to thwart counterfeiters is get their TERRIBLE QC under control and stop pumping out garbage. Most fakes are made better than authentic anymore - straighter alignment, neater stitching, etc. Such a shame but until people stop buying these cruddy pieces, it will continue. SMH

OP5 years agoI'm biased but I completely agree with the quality. Louis Vuitton's quality has gone down substantially over the years making it even harder to determine if what you're buying is counterfeit or authentic and a large part of that is that they're becoming more of a branding company (think Ferrari) where one of the oldest fashion houses now make pencil cases, tea sets and dolls. There are more and more customers sending their new authentic pieces back to LV because the craftsmanship is so poor. Counterfeiters have been using chips in other brands for a while now and appear to be a step ahead at this time. I can say that it has been an in-house nightmare (chips will only be implanted in leather goods) and I doubt the chips will last very long. LV is currently developing additional tech to counter the fake market but this is not public knowledge right now.

·5 years agoI bought my LV March 2021 and unable to find the date code. If a microchip is inserted, how can I get access? How can I get it authenticated? Do I have to go back to the store and have them read the microchip code?

·5 years agoYes, go to the store. This is what I LOVE about the chip. Authentication can only be obtained by going to the store and they can read the chip and provide the date stamp, etc information. Love it!

·5 years agoThen they should train their employees to be nice to customers who would go in and check the date code. You can't even go there to authenticate the ones with codes. Extra work for them and now people have to go there and drive and waste time. Some of those employees are already snaugty.

·1 year agoMy husband works in construction but every year for Christmas he goes to a Louis Vuitton store and picks one out He is the sweetest guy ever
The best part is he purposely walks thru every mud puddle he can find
Then he trots his happy ass in there
The looks he receives is precious
He gives them my name and then they decide to help him
Dropping just crap everywhere
He doesn’t understand women with purses and shoes
but he will never pass a chance to go in there dirty as hell
I love that man !
