Looking for help with these ladies hat descriptions
I was going to list these 50's hats but realized that I don't have a clue as to what to call them. Are they pillboxes? Thanks for your help.

·2 years ago#1 and 3 are clip hats. #2 is a toque. Double check to see if the feathers are well attached and the glue is not brittle.
Unfortunately, these are from a period (very late 50s into 60s) where hats are extremely plentiful. The arrangements of the feathers on the toque is quite nice, though.
(Pillboxes are wall-sided hats that perch so not these hats).

·2 years agoVintage Dancer is an excellent source for information about vintage fashion. You can search by decade, article of clothing, and gender. Along with photos and names of the garments, there is some great reading on the history and evolution of style. I suggest you look for your styles from the 40's through the 60's. ·2 years agoNot pillboxes. Unless the term has evolved or degraded since I wore them in the 1960's, "pillbox" applies strictly to a hat with a cylindrical shape: Straight sides and a flat top.
