Selling a Repair Service/Not Covered by Ebay Buyer Protection.

I needed my ONN charging port replaced because it stopped charging. I paid for a service and replacement part. Seller claimed to repair it, claimed he had to repair volume button (there was nothing wrong with volume button). Received my tablet. He repaired nothing, still won't charge and now my volume button does not work. I tried to open a claim, found out I can't because it is a service he provided and not an actual product so no eBay protection. I contacted eBay and they said report the buyer because he found a loop hole to advertise for a part but yet claim it is a repair service. I am out $50.00 and my notebook is in worse shape then when I sent it. Can I post the seller's site here? Any ideas on recourse? So frustrated.

The listing does show "type c charging port replacement", eBay's definition of a product sold on eBay. This should be covered by eBay buyer protection, however, because he states repair "service" it is not covered. The eBay representative I spoke to about this stated this is a loop hole that the back room investigators have to investigate. My tablet never had the port replaced. It is still loose and will not charge. I also received it with the volume button no longer working. ðŸ˜ž

You are wrong. The rep was wrong.

The title was for a Repair Service. The repair service was listed in the correct category. It's a category that does not offer eBay protection. Nowhere in the listing does it say covered by eBay 30 day Money Back Guarantee. Since it's not covered by MBG that means if you are unhappy about the service there's nothing eBay will do.

Your feedback is a warning for something that was in the listing, a service that is not covered. No need to warn buyers. Most buyers read and understand what they buy and check to see if it's covered before they buy because what will you do if you're unhappy and it's not covered?

Charging port replacement is a product. It should be covered by eBay as a product. The loop hole is that he is also providing a service and states that.

The port was never replaced, it will not charge, the volume button is now broken.

Shoulda woulda coulda doesn't matter. The category it was listed in is specialty services and it was listed as a repair service and it doesn't matter that it was a specific part they were going to repair or replace. Those types of listings are not covered. This is NOT COVERED by eBay. If you never got it you're SO OUTTA LUCK. if you paid with a credit card you could try disputing the charge with your credit card.

They may say in defense you sent them something that couldn't be fixed or repaired.

To have this clear, because the burnt chip (that I replaced for free), the tablet is charging but the battery icon is not showing charge, only after your restart the tablet it will show charging, but once you connect the cable it start charging, doesn't matter if is showing or not, and like I said the battery won't charge in seconds, you have to leave for a while, it is a big battery so will take a few hours.

Hello , your tablet is ready to go, I did noticed a few things, the temper glass is cracked in many different parts, seems it was misaligned at installation and I guess the keyboard when folding it cracked the glass but as far I can see the digitizer is in good shape. Also after replacing the port that was broken from the inside, I noticed a burnt component and it was preventing from charging , so please check your cable and charger because it seems to have a overcharge or a short. I replaced the small chip and now is charging, I did notice that no always shows the charging sign on the battery icon but it is charging. Also I can see somebody opened the tablet and caused damage to the power button and the keyboard connector, I swapped the volume down and the power button so it works good now, volume down is a little soft so be gentle with it

Hello, Thank you for the detailed update. 1. The tablet was never opened, however, this tablet has always had a slight loose case from day one. 2. The cracks on the screen protector is from the poor case I had for it. The 4 clips did the cracking. See attached photo of the case. 3. Thank you for replacing the the buttons. I never noticed an issue with those buttons as I use the tablet daily. 4. I use several different chargers, not sure which charger may have burnt it, it is probably an overcharge issue. Although, the charging port definitely was loose too. Thank you for the extra work.

Hello, as I mentioned earlier, the device is charging even though the battery icon does not display the charging sign. Simply connect it and leave it for a while, and you will notice the battery charge increasing. This method has worked for me in the past. Regarding the issue with the power button, I switched the volume down button to the power button to resolve the problem. Now, the volume down button does not click, but it still functions, just press it with slightly more force. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the issue to show you, but rest assured that all three buttons are working properly.

One side the plastic was broken and the clicker was bent so I move from the power to the button down, so you only have to press harder, I tested so I know it is working and that was extra work that I didn't charge for

About the burnt chip, I replaced and didn't charger for, so you are complaining about the extra work that I didn't charge for, get a new cable and leave it connected, if you restart the tablet with the cable connected I will show the battery charging icon but when is on it doesn't but I will charge, I tested all the combinations and it worked

Yes it charge but it won't show the charging sign on the battery, port was damaged a chip burnt so the damage was bigger. So in the case I prefer no to do anything but I replaced the chip and the port and it worked, BUT it won't show the charging sign on the screen. So do me a favor , use the best cable you have and connect it the to tablet and turn it off, leave it for a few hours and let me know

I wasted my time trying to find a solution for your problem and you only want to argue and questioning my work, do the testing first and then let me know, battery won't charge in seconds it takes hours to recharge.

And don't worry I will refund the repair cost, not the shipping because I used to send it to you; so don't worry and not getting rich because $30 dollars, I try to do my best but when the device is all banged and broken is almost impossible to have everybody happy

My tablet wasn't banged and broken at all. The screen protector had some damage from the case. The charging port was the only issue. It came back in the exact same condition I sent it to you in. The port is still not working properly. There was nothing wrong with the volume button. I know that for a fact. I use that tablet everyday. Now I received a product in worse shape and I am out $16.00 for shipping FOR NOTHING.

I want all of my money back including the shipping I paid to ship to you. I did not receive the services provided. The port is exactly the same, still loose and it still will not charge. I received it back with a broken volume button on top of it.

I'm leaving some pictures here for your consideration, tablet came in questionable condition, broken port, broken tempered glass, broken keyboard connector, burnt chip and the power button was removed from its place.

After replacing the port and the burnt chip, I moved the button from the power to the volume down, clicker was bent so I tried to make it straight and made sure it works, not clicking but it worked, so power button work perfectly. So all that extra work wasn't paid for the customer. I did it for free.

After recharging the tablet, 5v at 2amp , it was working perfectly. so I returned to the customer and now she is saying that I did nothing to it, only to make it worst. so here are the pictures to prove that is not right, she only want a FREE REPAIR and on top of that damage my feedback and eBay because the ESG only want to care abut the feeling of the buyers, so figure out the answer when I contact them to remove the negative feedback.

The charging port is still loose and not charging. If it had been replaced, it would charge and not be loose. I left it charging over night even though it shows it is not charging. Guess what, it did not charge! You mentioned the you had to repair the volume up and down buttons and they are now soft. There was nothing wrong with the volume button until you worked on it. Now it does not work.

I appreciate you uploading the 3 photos (date on the tablet is November 7th) I sent you showing the ONN tablet is not charging after you supposedly repaired it.
