Return of implausible (and thus fraudulent) battery and battery box specifications
Should be made clearer by eBay that implausible (and thus fraudulent) battery box specifications cannot be listed. They stopped allowing implausible capacity 18650s for a long time-because of me. At least they took down and blocked 10,000mAh listings. Years later they started claiming to ban bare 18650s entirely. But now i see them being sold again. Nearly every one of these >60 listings is fraudulent. : https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=18650+battery+9900mah and in violation of eBay policy*. Every one that includes a 18650 Li-ion battery marked 9900mAh is, and that's about 60 of them. Anything over 4000mAh is not achievable by a Li-ion battery with the world's best commercially available technology.
Legit former sellers of salvaged 18650s with usable capacities over 3,000 mAh have been barred by eBay from selling them; not tenable that it's allowing these 18650 batteries marked 9900mAh Li-ion to be sold.
Similarly, the bulk of these ~60 listings is fraudulent. :https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Car+Jump+Starter+100000mah Every one that includes a device that, if packed with 4000mAh Li-ion batteries, would have maybe 20% of the claimed 100,000 mAh capacity.
I'll be bringing this to sr. management attention at happy hour, if they're still having that. Much as I did years ago, to great effect.
*the violate this clause:
- 18650 batteries cannot be listed individually, as they are not intended for sale to consumers and can be potentially hazardous to consumers when handled, transported, stored or charged. 18650 batteries must be pre-installed

·8 months agoI had this problem with graphics cards back in day. I kept seeing cards (and pre-built computers) that were sold as "gaming" computers in the title - which like... is subjective, I guess, but I felt it was misleading - but then in the description they would straight up say specs that weren't possible.
I'm not even talking like quoiting FPS values that I didn't believe were possible with the hardware, I mean saying that 10 year old GPUs had dual 4k display port when that series had exclusively DVI and VGA outputs. I would scroll through and report dozens of them and then watch as eBay would remove like 10% of them despite me explaining in my report that it was *literally impossible* for the thing they were selling to have/be/do what they were claiming it was/could. - regardless of the dubious claims they were making about it "running 60fps on any modern game" or whatever vague claims that were also lies.
There are a lot of hard problems they have to face, but it does seem sometimes that fixing some of these would be more like emptying a spam folder than having to review each listing.
