Insanity of a buyer trying to cancel an order
Purchased (and Paid) for an item ($37.15 total) on Sep 01, 2026. Seller's listing stated shipping within 3 business days of payment. Payment was on a Tuesday night so shipping should have been by end of business on Friday (3 days - Wed., Thurs., and Fri.). The seller created a tracking number right after I paid for the item on Tuesday night Sep. 01. That tracking number was a USPS number and indicated delivery would be made from Sep 08 to Sep 11. On Sep. 08 I checked the tracking for a status of where the item was located. I found that it had never been shipped (USPS awaiting item). Decided to cancel the order as I really needed the item by Sep 09. The ebay system would not allow a cancellation, telling me the item was already shipped (because it had a tracking number). In reality, it had never been shipped. Called ebay and they told me to call back after the delivery window to do an item-not-received claim. There is no way the item will be here by Sep 11 (Calif. to Penna.). The seller is already in breach of contract by not shipping the item within the 3 day window he had in the listing. The main problem with the whole deal is ebay telling me the item is "shipped" due to it having a tracking number when in fact it has never been shipped - that's kind of ridiculous. I am also an ebay seller (even though a buyer in this story). When a seller is in breach of their shipping/handling time, the order needs to be eligible for cancellation regardless of the seller having created a tracking number. As an ebay seller I would NEVER create a tracking number and not ship the item within 1 business day. Ebay needs to recognize that a tracking number does not mean there has been a shipment made. Come On Man!!
