cannot register ebay dev account irregularities - SOLVED
Summary: comesawm shared their experience with registering for an eBay developer account, highlighting a requirement to use a business email rather than a free email domain. They explained that using a free email results in automatic rejection and suggested that the need for a business email likely prevents the creation of unauthorized accounts. comesawm described their solution, which involved purchasing a domain and hosted email, and successfully registering an account. rose_6921 expressed surprise or disbelief in response.
I was going through this for a month. There is one word in the documentation that this comes down to: please enter your BUSINESS email. If you try to create an account with any free email domain (gmail, yahoo, aol, etc, etc) your dev account will get auto rejected by the system and any support case or escalation will also be auto declined, I suspect by automation. So while registering is free, there is a back end cost as getting an official domain and hosted business email does have a cost. I was able to get my domain and hosted email for about $45 and I added a hosted website to look more professional for another $30 for a total of about $75 and this was done thru porkbun. I assume the reason they do not allow a dev account tied to a free email is because they don't want people creating burner dev accounts to test things they should not be doing. Anyhow, I went back thru the registration screen with a new userid ( do NOT uses a previously tried userid and do NOT use your seller account userid) and added my new BUSINESS email address and in 24 hours I received the email saying my ebay dev account was approved. Hope this helps everyone.
