buy.order.readonly gives invalid_scope in Production for a private app — how to get approved?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to give my own (private, personal) app read access to my own eBay purchase history — mostly so I can grab tracking numbers more easily, since they've gotten harder to dig out of the order-update emails.
Here's where I'm stuck. My OAuth flow (Authorization Code Grant) works completely fine in the Sandbox. But as soon as I try it against Production with the buy.order.readonly scope, I get:
{"error_id":"invalid_scope","http_status_code":400}
I've already got the Seller-side scopes working (fulfillment, inventory, finances, etc.) — those authorize and refresh fine. It's specifically the Buy scope that production rejects.
I gather this is a fairly known thing: the Buy API access seems to be gated, mostly toward EPN/affiliate apps, and private/personal apps don't get it granted by default. I just want to read my own orders, not do anything with other people's data.
App details: App ID FarizioM-OpenClaw-PRD-182977cdf-6c182c93 (production).
Two questions:
Is the invalid_scope in production for a personal app expected, or is there a config step I'm missing?
What's the correct way to request production access for buy.order.readonly for a personal app — is there a formal approval request, or do I need to contact developer support / a mentor to get it escalated?
Appreciate any pointers. Thanks!
