We can give ourselves “thumbs up” credit now

Summary: nyr134 initiated a discussion about the new ability to assign positive reactions, such as emojis, to one's own posts and comments, wondering about potential misuse. jtg204 and others noted changes in notification features, while fabrics24 shared an amusing instance of self-appreciation using the new feature. gurlcat questioned the significance of the term "abuse" since the platform doesn't reward likes, and pointed out the lack of competitive metrics. The conversation highlights mixed reactions to the new feature, with a blend of humor and skepticism.

Looks like we are free to assign all kinds of positive reactions / emojis to our own posts and comments.

Well, that won’t be abused too much, will it?

I think the word "abuse" is a bit hyperbolic, I mean it's not like we get paid for likes or anything. Also you can see who gave reactions by clicking on them, so when it's the author themselves .... well bless their poor hearts.

Yeah, you are right about ‘abuse’. When I first wrote that I thought that this forum might have retained the visible competitive leaderboard showing who among us had been most helpful. But that did not migrate over.

No place for hyperbole here, right?

Ah yes, I forgot about the 'most helpful' metrics of the old forum ... which goes to show how much they mattered to me. 😆

Testing 1234 (no emojis showing for me to add/click on original post); maybe only when replying??

@stainlessenginecovers my original post was last week - so I just tried to add another one and successfully awarded myself the clapping hands thingy.

And are these emojis or emoticons?

I just saw someone give themselves a heart on their own thread, and when asked about it, they proudly replied "yes, I did."
There are some fascinating folks out there XD

Oh good, I just noticed on .com it's now showing who is reacting and sends notifications like the old system.
