But you were quite critical of the sale, as if it was typical of IG sales, yet in your follow up post you say: "But I regularly attend live Instagram sales from 3-4 different businesses and they are excellent at what they do."
So, are IG Live sales generally good or not good?
I have watched snippets of some Live Sales, on FB , WN,and on ebay, and I think quality varies tremendously, and style is a factor. First WN Live sale I ever watched was two young guys selling collectible graphic tee shirts, and every other word was the F word and to say they were overly enthusiastic is putting it mildly. BUT....they were definitely a big hit with their target audience, even if not with me.
So, I think one thing to keep in mind: The Live I watch and like, might be the Live someone else watches and hates. I think at the moment at least, Lives are like ebay in its early days---it was pretty much the Wild West of online selling and buying, with many sellers approaching it in many different ways.
So, I'm just not sure what you are saying about Lives in general, or even IG Lives specifically. Can you explain?
@meme6253 - OP's post is about Instagram. Nothing to do with eBay. eBay Live events are very different. Not saying you need to care about or like eBay Live at all, just don't take the OP as having anything to do with eBay.
After sitting on a 2 1/2 hour Instagram live sale last night, I thought I’d be honest about
2026 live sales. They are not ‘fun’. They are not ‘social’.
In fact, there is not any live human being shown, let alone an old school HGTV attractive model.
There are photos only. And, you must hit ‘refresh’ over and over and over again like an addict, trying to get the ‘hit’ of the 1 product you saw in the preview page a couple of days before.
Once the picture posts, it’s a first come, first serve claim. And, if you take the time to scroll down to see what the actual price is, you may not be the 1st claim, and lose out.
I've attended many eBay Live events and they are nothing like the Instagram sale you attended. Do you know if all Insta live events are like that, or just the ones for the seller whose event you attended?
Did you get the impression, then, that these were aimed at an existing buyer base?
I'm not in a position where I can check it our for myself right now (out of the country, frequently out of range on a hiking trip), but I will when I can.
