I own a cursed item
Long story as to how I bumped into this person, but ... I did.
I walked into a fast food restaurant in a large city here in the US. There was a family of four sitting at the table next to us.
The older woman jumped when I sat down (I was less than arms length away from her). She looked at me funny. I ignored her.
She leaned over and said in a heavy (what I thought) was a British accent. Cockney I thought. Heavy.
She said something and I said, "Pardon me". A younger person across from her said, "She wants to know what you have on your person that is cursed."
I didn't know what to say.
"There is some item on your body that is hexed. It has bad magic. She can feel it, I can too."
I asked what it is. Nobody knew. I emptied my pockets on the table. She instantly bumped the key ring I keep the office lock codes on. "this one" She almost whispered. The old woman was mumbling something and rocking slowly.
"This ... right here. Never put a key on this ring. Anything that is attached to this object will pick up some of the bad ... it will be ruined. Don't use this. Don't carry it with you. Best to throw it in a deep body of water."
I asked "How do you know this?" She said, "She" nodding toward the old lady "is a Pagan witch. A Irish-Gaelic priestess. She knows these things. I have some abilities here, and I can feel it ... but, she felt it as soon as you walked in. She didn't know it was you till you sat down here."
The old lady started to stand up. She looked at me like I farted in church. And they left.
So ... is there a market for cursed items?
This is a religious item, pix of The Virgin Mary. Obviously old, gold plate that the plate is wearing off. Well worn.

·2 years agoI love the "I sold a cursed item on ebay" stories. Its like "Hey...selling cursed item .....save big with this 15 percent discount on bad luck!"😉 Passing on the evil to YOU!" 👠🤣
I'd really be much happier with a blessed item 🤣

·2 years agoI used to hang around with the theater crowd when I was younger, and this is the sort of thing some of them would do to random people out in public to practice accents, characterizations, etc.
That said, contact Zac Bagans. He might want it for his museum of cursed objects.

·2 years agoHa! That's quite a bizarre and entertaining encounter! It sounds like you stumbled into a scene from a fantasy novel or a comedy sketch! but still entertaining. glad you shared it!

·2 years agoI don't know about "cursed" per se, but over the years I have had a few items I listed that seemed to be. They'd sell then come bouncing back for one reason or another. After the 3rd time they get redonated.

·2 years agoIs there a market? Yes.
Do people list haunted and cursed items here all the time? Yes.
Is it against eBay policy? Yes.
In my opinion, not worth the risk to advertise it as cursed @chariot_badges .
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/intangible-items-policy?id=5038
Intangible items or things that buyers can't confirm that they've received are not allowed. For example:

·2 years agoSo ... is there a market for cursed items?
Everything Else > Metaphysical Items
Everything Else > Religious Products & Supplies
Everything Else > Weird Stuff > Slightly Unusual
Everything Else > Weird Stuff > Really Weird
Everything Else > Weird Stuff > Totally Bizarre
I would let another 'gifted' person examine the item for authenticity before listing it.

·2 years agoI actually traded my key chain with a hotel front desk employee years ago and got this.
I wonder if keeping it is why I am still poor.

toomuchstuffagain35
·2 years agoSo the nest question is, where did you get it and how long have you had it without any bad luck?
itsjustasprain
·2 years agoLooks like a routine pot-metal casting with a plastic or ceramic insert glued into the middle. The image itself looks to be a lithographic printing or similar. You can see some fabric-like graininess in the green background at the top. Probably sold as a bookshop souvenir in one of your larger churches.

OP2 years agoFair question.
I sell electronic key fobs, for cars.
It was attached to a fob in a large acquisition of mine that I got from a salvage yard in NM.
And, yes, it had a key on it.
I wonder how that fob got to be 'used'.
Car crashed?
My luck hasn't changed since I got it (about a year ago).
Still sucks. Sad sack.
But, like I said, I didn't put a key on it.
Oh, when she said 'deep water', she also specified that salt water would be best.

·2 years agoI was thinking something similar... they probably would have preferred that you pull out your wallet first. Then they could have come up with some sort of claptrap about cursed currency. But once they saw the religious key ring they may have interpreted that as signifying that the owner might respond more to some story about that instead.
I get the impression that the conversation was not really going the way they had hoped for whatever reason - either the OP was acting really skeptical or maybe they were drawing too much attention from others in the fast food restaurant.

·2 years agoThere is zero evidence to support this, or any item is "cursed." Ignore it, and move on.

·2 years agoIf you are seriously asking this question and want to keep it, I would bring it to a Catholic Priest and have them say a blessing prayer over it and dunk it in holy water.
You can always reach out to the people running the Warren Museum in CT. Here's their contact info.

·2 years agoThose bad things that happened would have happened no matter what "cursed" possession was in your life. It's called fate. From the moment you were born, those things were going to happen. Nothing would have prevented them because nothing did. 🙂
doc-holmes
·2 years agoNot to give you too hard a time, but that's kind of dangerous. If we just assume everything is predetermined, where's the incentive to try at all?
sakic92710
·2 years agoYou are completely missing the point. Everything is a 'fork in the road.' You still have to make decisions. It hasn't been determined what decisions you will make. Those decisions will lead you to what fate has in store for you. If you go into a store to buy a scratch ticket, the ticket that is meant for you is sitting there. Is it a $20 winner, a $100 winner or a loser? No one knows until your choose it. Once you do take it, that is the one meant for you to choose. Why? Because no one else got it. Only you. 🙂 You still had to try to pick it out. Last summer, on rent day, I was short $500. I decided to try a ticket. I won $500! That ticket was meant for me to win just when I needed it. I tried & it worked out just find. I still had to make the decision to risk spending money on something that could be a dude. Things happen for a reason but they don't happen if you don't try. No one knows what fate has in store for them. 🙂 If I didn't try to win on that day, it means the ticket was meant for someone else. Once I decided, it was meant for me.

·2 years agoThat has NOTHING to do with the OP's question, but thanks for playing.

·2 years agoI got a chuckle out of the rest of the replies so I had to add my thoughts.
@sakic92710 wrote:
I love it, I have a slightly different belief system which boils down to the fact that before conception we entered into an agreement with our guiding spirits (some people call them guardian angels) and in this agreement we specified (or failed to or plain didn't) many things... Such as our parents, the country we were to be born in, what our education level would be like, our level of affluence in life (or lack thereof), career paths, marriage potential, even race and gender could be chosen.
These things direct our course of life, and I agree that it is all pre-determined, you call it fate, I call it terms of the agreement directing us, same outcome.
That said and back to the thread on hand...
I think that lady was touched, as in upstairs, perhaps bipolar or borderline or some other form of psychosis... Whether they wanted money, hard to say, probably had a little too much to drink or smoke at one point in life and now she must toil the planet with the voices in her head telling her dumb stuff?
Oh, she can feel cursed items are nearby all right.
Anyway, I doubt the little thing in this thread is actually cursed.
Don't we sometimes wish we'd have been quicker on the reply, said something like "Yeah it's cursed, I'm a brujo (spanish for wizard, actually male witch), what else would it be, what do you wish from me before I pass several spells on you?"
Probably as someone else mentioned, it was just a fart.
gloryglorygifts
·2 years agoUmm. No you are 1000% wrong. No need to comment when you have absolutely no idea what happened and it had nothing to do with a "cursed possession." I'm sure that the OP will appreciate your opinion.
My opinion is get rid of it.

·2 years agoRight - because it was a recognizably religious souvenir that they could use as the basis for a mountain of semi-religious twaddle to follow. They would have had a tougher row to hoe if all you had in your pockets was 28 cents and a condom.
Because of course evil spirits are air-breathing and can be drowned in water. You could have asked whether a good soak of an hour or more would be sufficient. After a suitable waiting period you could then fish out your key ring and carry on with your life.
Certainly - people believe all kinds of silliness. What I think may have happened in your case was that you did not look sufficiently convinced by 'grandma's' story to the point that you would have volunteered money or some other item of value if they had continued. Thus they decided to cut their losses and move on to find someone more credulous (or gullible) than yourself.

·2 years agoI had a cursed item I sold here once. I bought it at an estate sale and was told there was a curse on it. It was a sterling silver, very vintage charm of the famous Dionne quintuplets sitting in their carriage. The curse was that anybody that carried it would have bad luck because of the quints sad, tragic, lives. I must admit I felt a little uncomfortable when I brought it home. But when it sold for a hundred dollars here on Ebay, I felt a lot better. And yes, I did mention the curse.
