eBay seller planning again to soon sell books on the NYC street, Broadway.
I tried it again 1 day, last year this day pictured, April 15, 2024.
I had tried it first time 2 years ago 2023 where I did well $90. In my first ever 2 hour session.
Last year I tried and did not sell 1 book during the 2 hour time period and could not take it.
Freaked out! Oh my!
Now I’m planning again for the 3rd straight year to go down in front of my apartment building again and sell (hopefully) books on the street…….
Gee last year I mentally crashed engaging with the people and not being able to even make 1 sale after I spent all that 2023 winter choosing the books from the 10,000 books here that I collected in my 80 year long lifetime.
It is not against the law to sell books on the street but protected by the 1st amendment of the U.S. Constitution, Freedom of Speech. One can’t sell Knick knacks, clothes or jewelry or anything else but books, YES!

·1 year agoWe live in a 15,000 population town in Illinois. We do 1 to 3 yard sales a year to unload unsold items from eBay. We do quite well! Our big sale is during a local Route 66 sale that involves 6 to 8 towns along the old mother road.

Love your tee! I'd come visit just to get a closer look at it! 👀
jewelbiz
OP1 year agoYou have quite the eye!
The tee is by Jean-Michel Basquiat, the late American artist, Andy Warhol protege.
A few years ago I bought many many items, great stuff, here on eBay by Basquiat.
Gave presents by him too…all at good prices from right here!
Went nuts for his artistic clothing.

·1 year agoThat's great and good luck! But you need a lot more books than just what is laid out on a table. Can you get someone to help you bring down a couple of boxes of books to set out, just in their boxes? I'd like to see your enterprise really succeed!

·1 year agoI watched a documentary about this on you tube but I think it was made quite a while ago. Hope you find a way to make it work.

Do you have to get a permit?
jewelbiz
OP1 year agoNo permits needed for selling books 📚 which are ok to sell as protected by law by the 1st amendment to the U.S Constitution, Freedom of Speech.
I am pretty sure one can sell books on the streets anywhere in America 🇺🇸
Join me!
Wherever you are we can do it together at same time different places.

·1 year agoGood luck to you. Only thing I can suggest is that you might get more traffic on the 16th than the 15th since of course too many people are going to be staying in and trying to finish their taxes before the deadline.
Which reminds me... 😥

Hopefully the weather holds, and you have plenty of sales @jewelbiz .
I did not know that you could sell books on the sidewalk and that is something new i learned today.
Thanks for the tidbit of info.
