Suggestion: Turn off $10 off coupon app message

Summary: The discussion suggested disabling a $10 off coupon app message. Various participants, such as frankodragon, thecatspyjamas48, and others, engaged in the conversation, but no substantive content or resolutions were documented.

When I browse through eBay, I'm bombarded with those $10 coupon app pop-ups which are a bit irritating.  For example, I click on an item, a new page opens up and then the screen darkens and the coupon message shows.   I don't have an app nor am interested in getting it.  Ebay should at least have to give users the option to turn off and keep it off.   I even have my advertising settings set to "off" yet I receive this ad.   I even tried adblockers but it just darkens the page and messes everything up.  It's really become a nuisance browsing online.

I get the $10 off to use the app. I get it at least once a day.

How do I tell ebay NO? Seems like they don't give you the option to say no. Otherwise what would people call them if they continued to do it?.

Some minor shops or little private users or especially Open Source developers highly depend on ads, but mega concerns like eBay really are NOT. But that does not stop them from promoting themself every few hours with this stupid 5$ / 10$ off coupon crap (yes, sometimes even several times within a hour) - always on random webpages and in random situations. There is not option to turn it off in preferences though eBay claims otherwise. It makes it clear, eBay spent a lot of money and effort into an API unnerving the users which is resistant against normal adblockers, by intention. Even worse: Most peoples experiences tell us that these coupon deals do not work at all. Why? Or better: How can a serious wealthy corporation sink that deep?

Long story short: Decent ads are okay (even one or two popups), but spamming users like script kiddies would do is definitely not. In my opinion this is abusing HTML5 code.

If eBay is not stopping this soon, I'll refrain from buying on this plattform. It have enough, simply enough!!!

+1 this just happened twice in a row. Nothing **bleep** me off more nowadays than companies putting crap in your face when you're just trying to use their **bleep** product. Infuriating.

Update, I believe Chrome is showing more notorious behavior in showing the pop-up rather than in Firefox.  I still think it's ether Malware or a virus by a third-party scammer.

Problem is I'm using adblockers and still are getting those notifications even using FireFox.  I wonder if ebay has some sort of malware?

Well thank God it's not just me who's irritated by this!  I get this message at least once a day and I, like you, have no interest in it.  Would someone please let us know how to disable this pop-up permanently?

I am beyond annoyed by this crap. I don't own a smartphone, don't want a smartphone, hate smartphones and I'm on a desktop computer. Between this nonsense and their new, "improved" PM system that looks like a smartphone texting screen, I'm using eBay less and less. Never mind their search system that is becoming increasingly braindead showing items that aren't in my search string. But - of course - I'm screaming into the wind because its ALL about the PHOOOOOONNE!!
