Sold via Promoted Listings yet all Views are Organic
A recent order says, "Sold via Promoted Listings," and an Ad Fee was charged under the selling costs. However, since posting the listing (last week), all the views have been organic. I don't believe it's a latency issue since the sale occurred yesterday and the views have already updated for today.
How can this be?

·1 year ago1. Go here: https://www.ebay.com/sh/ads/dashboard
2. Click on 'More Actions' near the top right of the page, then select 'Sales Report'.
3. Download the report when it's ready, and you'll probably find it was a halo fee, not a direct fee.
Meaning, someone clicked on one of your sponsored listings, then ultimately purchased a different listing from your shop. They don't have to click on the sponsored placement of the second item for the ad rate to apply. Both items do need to be part of an advertising campaign, though.
This is a good pictorial on how halo fees work:

·1 year agoWait - they removed direct vs halo from that report last year, but I think there's still a report that will give you the info?
I'll have to look for the right path later unless @valueaddedresource knows off the top of her head without having to search. Liz, can sellers still find direct vs halo ad attribution info?
Edit: typo

·1 year ago@wastingtime101 funny you should tag me on this because I was actually looking into this exact thing right now.
The help pages still say you should be able to find Halo vs Direct in the “Sales type†column of the downloadable Sales report but...someone reached out to me this morning saying they do not see that column in the report anymore and don't see anywhere else to see Halo vs Direct now either.

Still digging into it but wondering if maybe something has changed recently and/or if that may be related to the attribution model changes rolling out in other markets.

·1 year agoOK I found it. I knew it was there somewhere as I downloaded one of these reports just last week. 😂
Sales Report is different from the Campaign Performance report.
Follow this path:

·1 year ago@wastingtime101 glad to see you are still seeing it - I'll pass that on to the person who asked me about it, odds are they may just be confused about which report/how to access it.

·1 year agoYeah, for sure I think the seller that contacted you is confused about where to look. I always forget where to find that second report as evidenced by my above posts. I always find it eventually.
Never mind - I answered my own question. They are separate reports because the campaign performance report is cumulative. Meaning it'll show sales totals based on listing.
But the sales report is based on transaction, so if a seller has multi quantity or multi variation listings - all that data is merged per item number on the campaign performance report. But on the sales report it's broken out by transaction which is why that separate report is required to see the halo vs direct attribution data @valueaddedresource .

OP1 year agoThanks so much for investigating! I have generated the report and am waiting for it to process.
This is very helpful. I wasn't aware of halo vs. direct fees; that is likely the explanation.

OP1 year agoThe report finally processed, and sure enough...
That explains it, and I learned something new.
@wastingtime101 & @valueaddedresource, I much appreciate your assistance! Thank you for taking your time to look into this.

·1 year agoHappy to help. A lot of sellers get caught up on those halo attributions.
If you haven't already, I suggest going through the help page on general advertising campaigns to familiarize yourself with the ins and outs.
There are several sections to expand, along with some FAQ at the bottom.
