Promoted eBay Listings; Priority (Ad) Strategy VS General (Ad) Strategy; are they still too Vague?
Promoted eBay Listings is the TOPIC; Priority (Ad) Strategy VS General (Ad) Strategy; or are they still too Vague, still too confusing or is it designed to be that way?
Under "Priority (Ad) Strategy"-The "Cost per Click" is left up to the Seller either a Price or a Percentage? Seller Offers a Higher "Cost per Click" and that Seller gets Higher priority status over another Seller on the Exposure or REACH Advertising Scale. What type of exposure related to Number of Viewers will see my Listing? Response by eBay; unknown
Also, Who determines "Valid Clicks"; Response by eBay; eBay determines "Valid Clicks". ( i.e. A potential Buyer who "Saves" you listing but does not CLICK on it, only to go back to it later would not constitute a "Click".
Also under "Priority (Ad) Strategy"- "You will only be charged for listings promoted using the general strategy when the item SELLS." (per eBay) ..Another words, you Sell your item under "Priority (Ad) Strategy but when it SELLS, you'll ONLY be charged using the General (Ad) Strategy. Really? What?
Now lets look at the "Generally (Ad) Strategy" section- "the ad fee (created by Seller) is charged when a buyer purchases the promoted item from a general ad that any buyer clicked on in the most recent 30 days. The ad fee is based on the ad rate (Ad Fee is the SAME or = to Ad Rate which is around 12%; per eBay Agent) in effect at the time of the sale." Priority (Ad) Strategy- states: You will only be charged for listings promoted using the General (Ad) Strategy when the item SELLS. BUT the General (Ad) Strategy states; "the ad fee is charged when a buyer purchases the promoted item from a General (ad) Strategy that any buyer clicked on in the most recent 30 days, NOT when a "Priority (Ad) Strategy" Seller Sells their Item.
Again, Nothing about when your item SELLs under the "Priority (Ad) Strategy"; that you will ONLY be charged under the "General (Ad) Strategy", Confusing? Was for me as well as the eBay Agent I spoke with today 1/21 where he cited TWO issues back to eBay Regarding this "Ad Fee' between the 2 varying strategies.
The "Ad Fee = too or Same as Ad Rate" is Charged to the Seller on his or her purchased item; a Fee/Rate set by the Seller, generally around 12%, but could be HIGHER based on (Click Rate/Ad Fee or Ad Rate). I SELL Watches which is 15% to eBay right off the bat with an additional 12% or Higher for an Ad Fee/Ad Rate.. BUT mentioned earlier the Seller determines Cost per "Click" which eventually determines "Ad Fee/Ad Rate" and what the Seller actually RECEIVES in terms of exposure is based on how How HIGH the Seller makes his Cost per Click and as explained Higher the Click Cost the BETTER the Exposure; HOW much better Exposure in terms is Thousands or tens of thousands more people Viewing the Seller's Items; UNKNOWN according to eBay agent today 1/21...
As a Seller am I Confused at what could be my Ultimate responsibility in terms of Final Costs to SELL a Watch on eBay? Absolutely!
Will I Ever be able to determine what my Exposure or REACH will be when its determined by my Cost per Click, Ad Fee or Ad Rate which are both the same, NO, according to eBay Agent today 1/21!
Help! Does anyone in the "Community" feel this same Confusion?

·8 months agoThe 'general' has a concise price that a seller will be charged. The 'other one' (Priority) is just like Google/Bing 'pay per click' where you are paying for ebay to 'advertise' your item on those sites (possibly) and some others (yahoo news page, email pages off to the side etc.) BUT, that 'Priority' (just like 'pay per click on Google) a 'seller' has NO idea how accurate it is.
Bottom line, you can spend $100 a month on Priority and NOT sell a thing.
If something is sold, you still get to pay that $100 PLUS the 'General' fee (if you are doing both)
Personally, I would NEVER do the 'Priority' one.
I don't mind paying when it sells, I know the price I will pay.
I DO mind paying for a ghost.
I have a website and use to pay for 'Pay per Click' on both Google and Bing (yahoo) ($500 a month) for 7-8 years but stopped about 5 years ago and see that my overall Year To Date sales, all places I sell combined, have been relatively the same (except this year, up 18%, because I've added selling on AZ).
