Gold-plated Bars and Rounds
IÂ have been buying very attractive gold-plated silver bars and silver rounds. They are advertised as such. But all of a sudden I am seeing "gold-plated bars" and "gold-plated rounds." There is no specificity as to what metal has been gold-plated. Case in point:

I contacted the seller and asked just what base metal has been gold-plated. He does not know! Try not to jump at these products being offered at good prices. If you are looking or at best, expecting a gold-plated silver bar or round, re-read the ad - examine the pictures. If silver is not specified, beware. Contact the seller and ask. If you are happy with a gold-plated piece of copper or zinc, then go ahead and buy it. If you insist on silver with gold overlay, don't rush into a sale until you are sure the ad specifies the product as such.Â

·11 months ago99.9% of gold plated bars or rounds are basically worthless copper inside. Personally, it makes no sense to gold plate something actually made of silver. Â
