Anybody else tired of their searches being sold to internet advertisers?
Over the past year or so, I have noted not only eBay ads popping up on various websites that I access, but also all kinds of items and categories that we specifically search for, nonstop, all the time. It's all pretty boring stuff, as I buy for a family of four, but shouldn't our shopping interests remain within this website? We have been buyers and sellers here for twenty years, but it is becoming REALLY creepy having eBay follow me all over the internet, when the revenue generated by our frequent purchasing and selling should be sufficient.

·1 year agoHello eBay folks. I have had to contact eBay for several days in a row for over charging from eBay ads. I just got off the phone with eBay support and they told me too bad...Im not getting any money back.
Please someone help me figure this out. The eBay rep was extremely rude and would not explain anything.
I set an ad budget of $18 per day and eBay has charged me up to $100 a day in fees. How is this possible if I have a daily budget of $18.
She, the eBay agent then said that the ad would be $18 per day for each item in the campaign. This is absurd...This cannot be true. When I asked where in the ad section does it say your daily ad budget is per item in the campaign. She could not tell me and said Im supposed to know. She said there was an article about it and then could not find it.
Technically this means eBay could charge me $1,000 per day for the 52 items in the ad campaign. I would be broke in a week. This is truly the most deceiving ad practice ever if the set ad budget for a given campaign is per item listed in campaign. Who could afford to do this if the ad budget was per item in the campaign. Craziness!
This cannot be how it works. Does anyone know if the Ad campaign budget per day is per item in the campaign?
The ebay rep then said I could not get any refund even though she could not tell me anywhere the ad says budget per day per item in campaign. Is eBay really this desperate to do this? The ads on eBay have totally ruined the platform and I have been selling since the beginning. What a travesty!
My only choice is to go to a lawyer for help considering how rude eBay basically laughed in my face about my concern.

·1 year agoWith 4 people and 4 phones, I wouldn't worry about your 'shopping habits' being 'sold'- just talk about something with a phone nearby and watch that 'thingy' pop up on yahoo, msn, your email etc.
You have to think of it as 'who cares'.

OP1 year agoYeah, I know, but I care. The girls use their phones for everything, and they don't care; I use a landline, so I never see any of it. I am well aware of the way information is used on the internet, just disapprove of eBay abusing our business relationship in this way.
