I’ve mentioned in other threads the idea of giving end users, whether a buyers or sellers, more personal control over the ads shown. I thought a block “seller” list (BSL) or an item block would be a good solution, but since those aren’t possible, could eBay offer advertising preferences instead?
Maybe an option to include/exclude certain categories, similar to how AdChoices works? An eBay ad blocker? Behavioral and Target marketing.
There are so many complaints about being shown annoying irrelevant ads.
It would be great to have options to turn off/block certain categories, product lines, or types of listings according to one's preferences, maybe even more parental control possibly.
A fully customized shopping experience! Now who has that?

·4 months agoI can't sell you advertising space and then in turn give users the choice to NOT see your ad.
I don't think that will EVER be a thing.

OP4 months agoThat is true, that's why the other ideas were shot down I'm sure...:)
I agree there should be limits on how much can be disabled; otherwise, people will just turn off everything. Allowing the option to disable like only three categories or something similar could work. Just something better than what we have now.
Advertising dollars are crucial but target behavioral marketing would be like giving them a GPS to find even more friends.
Now combine target and behavioral marketing and you would get better sales...imho 😍
