Barbie info, please!
I know she's from 1966 because of what's written on her rump. She has eyelashes that stick out. She has the twist and turn body. I want to make sure the head goes w/ the body. Is she Barbie or Francie? Any other info would be appreciated

She's neither Barbie nor Francie. She's PJ, a Barbie friend first introduced in 1969. This particular PJ came out in 1970 and interestingly uses the same head mold as Midge, Barbie's previous best friend. We collectors made up our own story saying Midge moved to a commune and changed her name.
One side note: The dates on Barbie bodies isn't the date the doll was manufactured. It's the date the mold was trademarked. This particular body mold can be found on dolls manufactured well into the 21st century.

(you mentioned that this body can be found on much newer dolls but this one is 1970)
On a side note: I'm thinking Midge got extensive plastic surgery and a chemical peel to shed the freckles.

And, would that make a difference on the value of the Barbie overall. What the difference in value would be between a complete 1970 Barbie, Head and Body, versus the value of a FrankenBarbie.
I'm not a Barbie Collector, but I have sold a few over the years. Honestly, just to amateur eyes here, there does look to be a huge age difference between the Head and the Body. Body looks way newer, cleaner than the head. Can a Barbie enthusiast see that too.

·6 months agoApparently selling a few Barbies doesn't make you an expert. That is absolutely the correct body for the head. Because of the formulation of the vinyl used in Mod dolls they frequently are darkened or discolored. The bodies are a different vinyl, so they end up not matching.
You can definitively tell because it's stamped Made in Japan. Barbies stopped being made in Japan by 1973. In fact, the best way to date when a 1966 body was manufactured is the country of origin. You find the entire list in the Doll Reference page on 1966 bodies:

But I do have enough common sense, observational skills to notice that Yes, there is a HUGE aged difference between that body and that head. Head has an aged patina, body does not. Also old enough to have lived through the Barbie years back in the late 60's, early 70's with Sisters who had Barbies that as an ornery Brother, ripped Barbie heads off dolls many many many times. Also been in the ebay business long enough to have ran across a box or tote or 2 of Barbie Dolls, and Parts, and FrankenBarbied many Barbie Dolls to flip on ebay.
So yeah, I question as to whether that Head and Body are original to each other or not.

·6 months agoAnd I played with Barbie in the 60s, started collecting in the mid-90s, have a collection of more than 500 dolls, and have curated museum exhibits on Barbie. So when I explain why the head and body look different and how you can tell the body is correct I would think you might want to accept the new knowledge and stop questioning.
