Subject : Help identifying “Ardis†artist doll – signed Robin 12/25 Ardis 97 Hi folks, I’m trying to identify a doll I purchased in the 1990s. She is signed: Robin 12/25 Ardis 97 She has a porcelain head, shoulder plate, hands, and feet; glass eyes; a mohair wig; and a cloth torso. She originally held a baby doll, and her outfit includes bloomers and a period-style dress (which I believe are handmade). Approximate height is 14â€. She was attached to her mother, a larger seated Ardis. Does anyone know if this is by Ardis Shanks (aka Ardis of Starcross)? Her work seems to match the construction and style—particularly the expressive face and wax-over appearance. If you recognize the doll or artist, or have experience with pricing, editions, or restoration, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks in advance. No tag, but I do remember her now-broken mother had one.
